Bar ends

So tonight after a slow speed drop my left bar end broke. While trying to fix it we noticed that the whole left assembly just pulls out of the clip on. Is this normal?

BTW, it's an 03

I've got the parts numbers...I'm just trying to figure out if everyone else's does what mine does. We pulled on the good bar end and it PULLED the WHOLE assembly out. That doesn't seem right to me.

I agree that is not right i changed mine before and only the bar end
came off
I posted the link for you to see how it is put together in case something fell off
or you had a missing part

my bet is part number 10 snapped and took 12, 26 and 13 with it. I have seen this happen to a few bikes including mine. Part number 10 is cast and breaks easily.

If u pulled on the good (right) side bar end and everything came out then something is wrong. something is missing. does it have some type of throttle kit installed?
