Dead Tach

Here's the scoop: Bought a bike with the upper fairing/gauges damaged. Replaced the gauges and everything works when the key is turned on -- needle goes to redline then to zero, lights/displays work but when the bike is started the tach does not register any rpm (everything else works). Looked in other similar threads and checked the fuses -- they are all good, plug is in back of cluster solid, no damage to wires (i replaced upper wire harness). Any other suggestions or things i should be checking? Thanks.

sound like it's not getting it's signal, check the wires past the harness you replaced, if not the sensor.

its one of three things, the gauge cluster, the wires or the ecm. go throught the manual and follow the trouble shooting procedures...
