Sticky/stuck turn signal button

I tried searching but didn't see much on the topic. The button on my signal switch is sticky and occasionally gets stuck. It moves left and right okay, but when you cancel, it sometimes just stays in there and doesn't pop back out. It also no longer feels like a switch (no clean/precise throws), but more like a rubbery piece of licorice (mmmm).

Any thoughts or quick fixes? Just thought I'd ask before spraying all kinds of junk into it or unnecessarily taking it a part.

Yeah pull it apart, it's easy. Two screws is all. Mine was doing the same. Cleaned up the gunk inside and it works like a charm.
