Post HELP! New IT Tail light is flashing. How do I get it to stop

Hey all,

I just bought a Motodynamic integrated sequential LED tail light for my 2006 Honda CBR 600rr. I installed the tail light exactly how the instructions told me to. When I turned on the turn signals everything worked fine. Both signals (left and right) and the 3 burst brake light would light up with out a problem. The turn signals how ever would blink fast so I installed a signal relay and the problem was fixed. Again everything worked just fine. I went out of town for a week and came back and turned the bike on and noticed my brake light was flashing. Nothing was engaged, no brakes, no nothing. The signals still work fine and the 3 burst flash when the front brake is engaged works just fine as well. For whatever reason when the bike is just sitting and I'm not touching anything the brake light flashes. I thought it could be a wiring problem but I unplugged the IT tail light and plugged in my stock tail light and it worked just fine and was not blinking/flashing at all, so then I plugged the IT tail light back in and it was still flashing. When I got home after a week, I turned the bike on to make sure everything was still working and I noticed that my battery was low so I hooked it up to a battery tender to recharge my battery. I thought maybe the brake light was flashing since the battery wasn't fully charged but I checked this morning after it was fully charged and it was still flashing. What could the problem be??

The problem is you bought the wrong light. You should have got one of our lights and you wouldn't have any problems.

Now to your issue. When you turn on the key the brake light flashes without touching anything? Check your rear brake switch behind the right rearset and spin the plastic adjustment so it takes more force to pull the spring down to engage the brake light switch. This sounds like your problem. T

Yeah the brake light flashes constantly without touching anything. It was working just fine however right after I installed it initially. Right after install I would turn the bike on and not touch anything and the tail light was just solid red like it is supposed to when nothing is engaged. I will try the rear brake switch when I get home and let you know if it works. I hope that is the issue. It just doesn't make sense that I can plug the stock tail light back in and that it works just fine.

Led's are strange like that. It depends on how much force is needed to pick up enough resistance to engage the 12vdc to light the led's.

Messing with the rear brake fix didn't do anything. No brakes are engaged. Just when I turn the key to turn the bike on the tail light starts flashing. I'm not sure what the problem is. Any advice or suggestions would help greatly. Thanks

The only other thing it could be is the front switch is broken/engaged. Something is making it turn on when you put the key on. Unless it's wired wrong but you said it worked fine earlier.

Yeah when I engaged both brakes it flashes 3 times (like it is suppose to) and then turns to the solid red (like its suppose to when the brakes are enaged). The problem is just with the solid red LED light that is always suppose to be on when the bike is on. That is what is flashing once I turn the bike on.

It doesn't sound like you have a problem if your rear and front brakes are working and making the light work. It might be a start up function that it flashes when the key is turned on. Can you do a video and post it?

Yeah it's really werid cause right after I installed it, it was working just fine and not flashing at all when I would turn the bike on. Well it actually just started working randomly. That's really werid. I had been turning the bike on and off trying to figure out what the problem could be and it was flashing every time I turned the bike on and then all of a sudden I turned it on and it wasn't flashing any more. If it happens again I'll post a video for you to see. Thanks for helping!!
