04 RR gas leaking while key is on

So today I walked outside to fire my bike up and take a ride and as I was backing out of my carport I smelt fuel and noticed gas steadily coming out the shifter side of the bike from underneath the tank cover i looked inside the gas tank with a light while shaking the bike I can hear something besides gas moving around like an internal part I'm confused in what to do please any help would be awesome

It sounds like you are saying the bike is leaking gas when you turn the key on and the fuel pump primes? I would start taking off your fairings and take a look under your tank. It's possible your plastic quick disconnect fitting has cracked or broken.

There hasn't been any maintenance or work done on the bike prior to this happening?

I know it's the fuel rail and what it's for. The cap lose or cracked?

Glad it was an easy fix. I wonder if it failed from just normal wear and tear or if ethanol took it's toll on it.
