Exclamation 2003 won't fire back up.

So I just randomly started having problems with my bike. I took it to work one day and the bike started but instantly died. Every time I drove I would have to keep the rpms up in order for it to keep on running. The bike ran rough, kicked out smoke, and was very throaty for a stock exhaust. After troubleshooting it myself, the bike finally has died and will not fire back up.

I did the search function and someone had a very similar problem: https://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=263324

If this is the case what is the best solution to fix it, without spending $900+
Or can it be another problem?

Does it turn over? Lights come on? Battery low? 03-04 have an issue with the R/R if I recall.

There's a lot of guys with a lot of knowledge here but theyre going to want to know more about the issue and the troubleshooting you've already tried.

My buddy was having severe trouble with his GSXR 1000 last summer, very similar diagnosis. Got out the service manual and started going through everything. In the end it was so simple, we just had to change the plugs.

$15 in plugs and we could have saved hours and hours of trouble. Nice easy thing to check.

The battery and all the connections are fine. Full power.

Bike turned on again tonight but then once rpms dropped it died again. I am hoping it is the spark plugs, going to replace them as soon as I get new ones.

Don't even need to buy new ones just yet, I was just meaning that you should pull them and see if they're fouled first.

Either way I probably should switch them out since I'm betting they haven't been changed for quite a long time.

I had a similar problem last year with my 03 last year. You had to stay on the throttle like a 2 stroke or she'd die.
Like deck said pull the plugs and inspect them.
$40 and some change in plugs later she A-ok
