07' CBR600RR chain clicking noise
Hello cbr community, this is actually my first official post haha. I search for a similar thread but couldn't find a solution. Long story short, after taking my 07 cbr600rr on a little trip to lake okeechobee (100ish miles round trip), when I got home, I noticed my rear axle bolt was sitting 3-4 inches out the left side. I thought to myself, boy am I lucky to be alive lol. The axle bolt nut must of came loose, and the axle bolt started sliding out somewhere along my trip back home. I heard a knocking sound at the light before my neighborhood, and realized it was my chain hitting the frame/kick stand when I parked it in the garage. So i ordered the bolt nut, installed it, adjusted chain to about an inch slack (lined up with markings on swingarm), and even scrubbed the chain clean and lubed it (cleaned like new). Clearance looks fine, as in it ain't hitting any thing I can see. Still, there's a clicking sound when I turn the wheel, forward or backward on it's stand, or rolling. In gear with clutch in, and even in neutral, the sound is there. Btw, the sound is happening with the engine of. I think it's the chain or sprockets? Bike only has 7,500 original miles, and my mechanic told me 1,500 (when I installed new tires with him) that the chain was good. Any ideas? I read chains last a lot longer, is this true?
