never heard of this, how high does the temp get? it was common for my fathers cbr929 to hit or exceed 110C(230F) at traffic lights. how random is your temp reading. explain how it's all over the place? cause it should cool down as u ride it and should heat up as you slow down the thermo fan should also kick in.

btw is this your first bike?

Please give us some more information to help you out.... what kind of temperature readings are you getting and what type of riding are you doing? What is the typical range and how often and how much does it fluctuate? With your vague description what you're saying could be perfectly normal but we'll need to know more to help nail it down.

Mine goes from 174-178 at highway speeds. During stop/go traffic like at a red light, the bike commonly gets to 220. I consider this normal.

Yup same here, 170-180 during cruising (moving) and stop/go traffic or stopped goes up to 221 than the fans kick on and bring her back to 200ish.

sorry but ur lad don't know sh*t, those celcius temps are fine our demo bike goes into the 102-107c standing and also fluxuates temps when riding.
what your lad has to uderstand is how the thermosat works in his bike, u say he's been riding for years Pee-Wee 50's don't count what was his last bike to make him think that this is not normal don't go making up bikes either we are smarter than that. don't worry it's not the first time some newb has questioned about temperature problems just do a search there's a few of them. Your main worry is high temps not varying ones.

Mine gets up to about 230 as it did with my other 600's which is normal, hopefully it's NOT above that!

I live in michigan and same for me, the manule says that this is normal as well. After my fan kicks on it does not go above 225f and no matter how cold it is it will not go below 170f. Might put a switch on my fan to turn it on soner. Sitting in traffic with 225f below you sucks

normal

My first bike was an 03 600rr at first i thought this was not normal but after awhile u get used to it jsut how the bikes are i have an 07 600rr now and it acts exactly the same ... i think most pep are used to there car guage that jsut sits in the middle but there is actually about a 30 degree variance built into car temp guages jsut so pep dont freak out about the guage moving all the time the bike temp is digital so u see every little degree change (this is normal ) as long as u dont see 250 260 ur ok
