Clutch Question

Hi guys,
I have a 06 600rr and i have a question reguarding my clutch engagement point. Its kind of hard to explain but i will do my best. What happens is that the clutch doesnt engage until the last few MM of the release of the clucth. I can get it close to the engagement point and the bike reponds by boosting the rpm up by about 200 or so.
Every other bike that I have owned was adjustable, so i tried that, but all it did was add slop at the top, and the point at which the clutch grabs is the same. Am I just missing something here? It would be nice to have the clutch engage midpoint in the travel of the lever.
