Why is it so difficult...

...to get Honda keys copied?!? :S

I live in Toronto and I usually get my keys copied at Canadian Tire here - I've done my Kawi, gixxer and R6 keys done there in the past without a problem - I go to two different places today and they tell me that they do not carry the key size needed for the Honda! :(

Why are they so HUGE? Anyone else have this problem?

And if anyone in Toronto knows a place where I can get this done without guessing please let me know. Thank you in advance,

~Paul.

I suspect the local dealer has a place they use? ...because not all trade ins have both keys?

Also, I think my wifes Civic had that bigass key too, so maybe ask the local Honda car dealer?

The funny thing is I DID go to the local Honda (car) dealer and they didn't have the keys - next step is to goto a Honda bike dealer and try it - although I don't really want to b/c I heard they charge an arm and a leg for it! :(

See if they'll take a small child instead. There are plenty of those to go around.

Never argue with an idiot, he will only drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

If you can supply a blank, I'm sure almost any place that cuts keys can cut it for you. My experience at places like Home Depot is that they get it right about 1/2 to 1/3 of the time. Not a big deal when you get a $2 blank from them and if they screw it up they do it again. If you take your $9 Honda blank to them and they screw it up, then it's bye bye $9. We cut keys by hand in my shop and if we screw one up, we supply another blank until we get it right. Sometimes its just best to pay up and get it done right....just my 1.683 cents....

I had the same problem finding keys. The suzuki key was 180 degrees off from the honda key. I ended up going to the dealership to get it cut. 7 bucks.

Racer - if I had a small baby I'd trade it in but my wife would kill me after...won't be able to ride dead, so that idea's out the window!

Mike & Ghost: I probably will end up going to the dealership! I'll let you know how it worked out...

I have been searching for weeks for the brand of blank and # for a key for my 07 and have had zero luck. I am trying to get a custom key chain made that will include a blank. Anyone happen to know the brand of blank and # I need for a ILCO blank?
