Gravity

It's pretty good. And I'm a movie snob. Gripes are minor, and this movie won't stick to your ribs for a long time. The audio/visual presentation is top notch, but you must

SEE IT IN 3D

This is the 3D movie. Avatar was okay, but it is this movie that makes you feel it.

I pinned it as an "open water" in-space flick. If you're saying it's something more then I'm willing to go see it, thanks.

You're not wrong, but the tone is more on point - it's more of an adventure and less tacitly realistic. It's a movie that I don't think will work nearly as well on a small screen; it's a treat in 3D and I think 3D is mostly dumb. Even just the vis fx and sound design is worth the price of admission.

I haven't seen it yet but I am going to see it IMAX 3D this weekend.

I'm excited. I usually hate 3D movies and refuse to watch them but this one works because of the setting. 3D works best when you have large depth and floating objects (which basically describes outer space to a T).

Not to mention I love what Alfonso did with Children of Men, I've heard he nailed it with Gravity too.

Sandra Bullock met with Alfonso weekly for 6 months prior to shooting just to go over the emotion he wanted to display.

Super stoked to see it.

There's a whole mess of shots that depend on 3D being there. I'm surprised more of the marketing wasn't driving this point.

While watching this movie will give you a total high (LETS ALL BE ASTRONAUTS!) it's not as poignant as his other films. Some dialogue is creaky and the celebrity actors portray characters exactly as you would expect them to. Even with this the movie is just so solid and fun it doesn't matter.
