HALO- The Movie!

Okay, I just got a new Movie News brief in my inbox about Halo- The Movie... ya know, the blockbuster Xbox video game that has been one of the best selling VG franchises in the world. Here's part of the email:

-----------------------------------------------
Rumor has it that Peter Jackson (LOTR Dir.) will be at the helm for Halo, the film adaptation of the popular video game from 2001 that's sequel was voted on of the best video games ever. Alex Garner (Writer: 28 Days Later, The Beach) rumored to write it, but sources say he's out and D.B. Weiss will be writing another script (as Garner's script suposedly wasn't good enough for Microsoft). If this is true that Jackson is Directing it could mean another big budget blockbuster (maybe even series), and odds are this film could reach or break the 3 hour mark for audiences. A release date is yet to be confirmed as the film is still "In Production", and some say as early as Summer 2007- competing with Transformers and Spider-Man 3 for best summer blockbuster. No news yet on who gets the coveted role of "Master Chief"- an enhanced super soldier who was the hero players manned in the video game. Rumors are floating around that the possibilities right now are: Denzel Washington, Bill Goldburg, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Vin Diesel. With a $10 Million dollar price tag Universal Purchased a script from Microsoft for the film could possibly be another huge hit (as most video game-film adaptations don't do very well)... Whatever comes from this movie, it's sure to have a huge following and the next few months could even see a teaser coming out along side a big fall blockbuster. Either way, with the announcement of Halo 3 for XBox 360 coming sometime in 2007 a Halo Movie would be a welcome addition.

If these films are longer than LOTR I won't be able to handle it. I barely made it through LOTR without pissing myself in the theater.

God I hope they don't pick Denzel Washington, or Vin Diesel.

I dont know how Denzel and Vin can be mentioned in the same sentence for the same role. Denzel is one of the best actors of his generation. Vin Diesel is a meathead.

They should do a Red vs Blue movie. That'd be much better.

i doubt any of those actors will be MC. If they are to do HALO, MC never removes his helmet, so that means those high dollar actors would get no face time. It would have to be some lesser known actor who does not care about having his face covered for the whole movie, like the guy who played v in v for vendetta. althought, Vin is a big video game fan and might sacrifice the face time for the role of all roles.

Hugo Weaving? AKA Agent SMith from the Matrix movies and Elrond from LOTR.

That little known actor? He took the V role because its a great role. Not because he doesnt care about screen time

Yeah, I would hardly say Hugo Weaving is a "little known actor", he's also huge on the theater tip too. I would venture to say that the possibilities for MC are endless.... and who knows, you may see a helmet removal in the end that actually does show his face. Just throwing that out there. I wonder how they'll do Cortana (and who'll play her), that should be fun to see.

Check out bungie.net for more info on the movie (since they're the ones that created Halo).
