AMA sucks

Man I wanted to scratch my eyes out watching the superbike races and the 200 wasn't that much better.

Why do the vendors want us to buy there stuff when they never have it in stock?

I wish they would get more organized....The first lap pile-up in the horseshoe was a mess, the wambulance crew was just walking around like - what do we do? lets pass by the guy passed out face down and go check on the guy on his knees...WTF!

Thats nots AMAs ambulance. Most likely they contract out through a local service.
Most big race tracks or arenas have contracts in place so no mater what event is there they get the same service.

But ya, that sounds retarted

They walked by someone face down without checking on him?

In a Mass Casualty Incident (more people hurt than there are medical providers on scene) there is a program call TRIAGE, which rates patients on how bad they are hurt and care is provided to them accordingly. If they checked on the man laying face down, then continued by him, I would say that they had enough info to assume that he was ok. At least for the time being until more help arrived.

Of course, if the EMS crew really did suck... Well then there is just no helping it.

My boss went to this race. I'll have to talk to him and see how he liked it tomorrow.

Dunno about the EMS stuff, but the races themselves were actually quite interesting. Early, middle and late action, plenty of passes...

Obviously not familiar with the DMG rules on jump starts.

Quote:
vii. Any rider who anticipates the start will be assessed a penalty.
viii. Anticipation of the start is defined by the motorcycle moving
forward and continuing to move forward while the red lights are
on
. AMA Pro Racing will decide if a penalty will be imposed.
DMG officials deemed there was no advantage gained and that he was at a total stop when the lights went off, so there was no penalty. Nowhere in the new rules is there any mention of the "box". Tdub

i thought the racing was pretty good. especially the superbike class. i am happy they did away with rolling starts (what a joke). i just with they would do the 200 in the day time and air the qualifying since it is a big deal with winning the watch and all.

now they just need to air ALL the races and not just give brief replay of the supersport races.

Thanks for the clarification. I like this rule. No sense in unneccesarily punishing a rider (or his sponsers).

Huh, weird. In that case, it's perfectly legal for the last place guy to stage in his box, then during the pause waiting for the red light to go out, race up to the very front of the grid (as long as he's fully stopped by the time the race actually starts.) Of course, this would probably be flagged as a penalty under some sort of "unsportsmanlike conduct" rule. But what's to stop ALL competitors in the future from scooting up a few feet before the race start? :)

AMa/DMG officials ruled there was no advantage gained, hence their decision to not penalize. Very unlike your scenario. Tdub

the thing that makes the ama races so bad is the idiot announcers. ralph sheheen is such a dumbass and him and scott russell voices are so damn annoying. i had to watch it on mute. zemke wasnt running up near the front on his honda because there 2 guys named spies and mladin. now that theyre gone anyone has a chance to win. sucks not seeing a honda on the grid

That yellow line coming out of a turn caused a lot of tire wobble... The whole time I was just waiting for someone to run into that wall...

And it was damn cold out there

If you watched the whole broadcast they mentioned Zemke was training very hard and lost alot of weight and the gixxers are more powerful than the Hondas. I enjoyed the races alot of action, I guess people will pick it apart but there was alot of leader changes, crashes, mistakes and surprises, just wish all the races were run at night.

Overall, I thought the race itself was pretty decent. One of the security guards was really cool and let us on pit road so we got to walk around and see all the riders and bikes up close. We spent most of the race at the International Horseshoe so we saw the majority of the crashes. Best part was watching Turner throw a fit after he lowsided into Mcpherson in the horseshoe.

I have tried real hard to get into it the past two years, and it never fails that I just lose more interest as the season progresses. Nothing compares to the MotoGP experience!

I only watched the Superbike races but i actually thought they were pretty decent. Not as good as WSBK, but very good actually. I think SPEED tv's suckage tends to make the domestic races seam even worse then they are. I would be really interested to hear a Eurosport or other foreign broadcast of AMA. Julian Ryder would loved the drafts, lol.

Yeah Speed, people bitch about them but they are the only reason AMA is on TV at all and contributes alot to the sponsor appeal. The announcers do just fine unless that's your whole focus when watching the races.

I don't know, I can't stand Ralph Sheheen(?) and the guy they put in the pits is always overexcited. Last year when they chose to replace the commentary for the US round of WSBK & WSS.... it was a horrible, horrible travesty - they didn't say anything about the WSS race for the entire first lap.

Maybe it was just Daytona but there was far too much talk of Nascar for my tastes, they seem to be trying really hard to draw in that audience.

All that being said the TV contract is pretty much the only reason we're getting a season this year. Let's all just hope things continue to improve.

Ok now you're going a little nuts, they were comparing the difference between a regular tire contact patch and a motorcycle contact patch which are considerably different when racing on the banked tracks. Most people don't actually know about these things. You might not know this but the AMA teams have had a huge problem with traction control development because the work had been for flat contact patches, when you roll the bike over not only do you change the profile to the road but the actual gearing as the side of the tire represents a shorter distance around.Which was causing traction control units to see a rapid increase in wheel speed causing power to be cut. Another thing when people who are used to how traction control works on there cars imagine it's the same for a motorcycle.
