Ryder Notes: Pedrosa Snaps Collarbone, Lorenzo Collars Title

Jorge Lorenzo may have become World Champion five minutes into the first free practice at Motegi.
Dani Pedrosa suffered a double fracture of the left collarbone. His throttle stuck open on the fast
approach to the V Corner. On-board footage showed the bike wobbling in a straight line and then went
down hard on its left side, trapping Dani's left leg under the bike as it slid into the gravel trap.
However, the damage was done when his shoulder hit the track.
Dani was transported to Tokyo by ambulance and will fly to Barcelona for an operation tomorrow. If he
does not make it back for Sepang next week then Lorenzo is champion.
Seasoned Valentino Rossi watchers know that he is at his most dangerous after a bad race. At Aragon
two weeks ago he had a nightmare, and afterward talked openly of having his shoulder operated on
before the end of the year. To what seemed like the genuine surprise of his team, Rossi was fastest
using a new engine. Jorge Lorenzo will probably save his one new engine for races rather than
Over at Ducati, the good news is that the set up that was so successful at Aragon seems to have
transferred to Motegi, and as some sort of consolation for Honda Dovizioso is quick. It looks like
we'll get a race on Sunday - even if it isn't for the championship
