Pretty much all the top riders that were on Hondas in previous years have moved on. They don't have the same talent they had before. Laverty is in SBK now, Sofuoglu is in Moto2, Andrew Pitt is somewhere I forget.

The 600rr has a ton of WSS titles though. Most of them since it came out in 03.

The Honda 600rr is dated now compared to the rest if the field. The 600rr is on it's 5 year with the same platform. You can thank the global economy for that one.

In 07 and 08 and even after the 600rr dominated. Hell, it still made a great run in the last WSBK race, just couldn't hang in the second half of the race. The front of the pack for the first half was 2 RR's.

Yamaha is pulling out next year, as a side note.

"Certainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never really care for anything else thereafter." E. Hemingway

No I didn't say that.

I'm saying Honda has won a lot of titles with the 600rr.

Not the problem and not even true. The only bikes that matter in WSS are the R6, 6R, and 600RR. Only the 6R is newer and that was in 09.

That right there sums it up.

Honda is only making a token attempt in anything but MotoGP so pretty much anyone on a Honda is on their own right now. The top riders saw that coming and they all split for better gig's.

Enjoy every minute of life!

I remembered having a similar debate and people thought I was being bias, but truth be told, performance figures are barley any different today than when they came out with the 600rr as far as atcual power output, it's basically the same. don't get me wrong, there have been changes, but certainly nothing spectacular. I still think the 600rr's are some of the best handling super sports out there though.

According to the speed data from the last round, it's not slow on top speed. So I'm not quite sure what you saw.

Example,

David Salom ZX-6R: 260kph
Florian Marino 600RR: 263kph
Chaz Davies R6: 262kph

Really, the only thing holding the Hondas back this year is the riders. Sofuoglu and Laverty are better riders than the top Honda riders this year. There's nothing wrong with the bike.

what i saw was in philip island when a kawi and a yamaha split the honda on the last lap after the last curve on the straight away and they blew by the honda putting it in 3ed place.... absolutely embarrassing, it was broc parks and hmm cannot think of the yamaha guy but they smoked chaz davis

next race they jumped the honda again and the race after that as well.... it has been a yamaha kawi battle with hondas just ( from my pov ) trying to keep up

*shrug* top speed data is about the same for Philip Island too.

Riders draft each other on the straights all the time though.

Really. Horsepower hasn't been an issue in previous years for Honda and none of the bikes have really changed.

Hondas have been on the podium at every round. Hell, they were 1st and 2nd in Brno.

They aren't doing nearly as well as previous years but they aren't doing as bad as you're implying.

I think your perception is a little skewed.

It's impossible to tell why in a situation like that. Reasons could be the Honda was covering the inside line so he got a poor drive out of the corner meaning the others would easily pass him on the strait, or maybe they're just better riders. Maybe his tire was losing grip, rider fatigue, etc. Who knows.

Honda's definitely due for a remodelling soon and they could easily leapfrog the pack, so don't put too much stock into this years results.

Remember the previous WSS winners:
(Year/Riders Title/Manufacturers Title)
2002 - Honda, Honda
2003 - Honda, Honda
2004 - Honda, Honda
2005 - Honda, Honda
2006 - Honda, Honda
2007 - Honda, Honda
2008 - Honda, Honda
2009 - Yamaha, Honda
2010 - Honda, Honda

Pretty good track record.

The Hondas are always in the top 5 with the oldest platform. Whats wrong with that and the top Honda riders are gone.

"For me, the problem is that big part of MotoGP riders now are pussies,"Rossi declared. "In the past, this is normal, the riders were more like real men. Now it is more like they are children."
