2013 MotoGP™ season ends in Valencia with FIM Awards Ceremony **Video Added **

The 2013 MotoGP™ season was brought to an end this evening at the FIM Awards Ceremony, where among others, Marc Marquez picked up his World Champion trophy at the Feria de Valencia.

Entire Ceremony NOTE: Skip ahead to 5min

Presenters Gavin Emmett and Melissa Jimenez were joined on stage by President of the Generalitat Valenciana Mr. Alberto Fabra, Mayoress of Valencia Ms. Rita Barberá, Dorna Sports CEO Mr. Carmelo Ezpeleta and FIM President Mr. Vito Ippolito, to present the numerous awards throughout the course of the evening.

It was Repsol Honda Team rider Marc Marquez who took centre-stage as he collected his award, along with Moto2™ World Champion Pol Espargaro and Moto3™ World Champion Maverick Viñales. In addition to taking the World Title, Marquez was also named Rookie of the Year.

These were however not the only awards on offer, as a series of other notable achievements saw other prizes awarded, such as Top CRT rider of the year for Power Electronics Aspar’s Aleix Espargaró, as well as Rookie of the Year in the other classes, with Mapfre Aspar Team’s Jordi Torres winning in Moto2 and Estrella Galicia 0,0’s Alex Marquez in Moto3. This year’s Rookie of the Year honour in MotoGP™ is awarded in memory of Marco Simoncelli, and for the support classes in the name of Michel Metraux.

The BMW M Award for best qualifier in the MotoGP class was awarded to Marquez, as well as the Tissot Pole of Poles, which also went to Pol Espargaro in Moto2 and Alex Rins in Moto3. Motorland Aragon was awarded Best Grand Prix, Repsol Honda the Best MotoGP Team, whilst across the three classes the Constructor Titles went to Honda in MotoGP, Kalex in Moto2, and KTM in Moto3.

Future talent was also honoured as the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup top three picked up their trophies with champion Karel Hanika leading the way.

It was Laguna Board decision not Dorna

I wish they would add Road Atlanta or something so I can go to a race without having to travel 10+ hours

Indy or Austin is not that far away years ago they almost signed Barber but the city did not want to cough up dough to help George Barber to sign the deal with Dorna

Barber would have been great since its not too far away. I've gone to some of the Indy races since I get free tickets every year. One year I'll have to plan a trip out to Austin or Indianapolis. Could always save up some airline points

I went to Laguna in 2005 & Indy 2008 Indy was simply so much better and cheaper ( Air fare / Hotel / car rental ) in comparison to Ca I had plans to do Austin this last April but financial reasons killed those plans

I stopped by the Indy speedway twice now on business trips when I have an hour or so to kill before my flights back. The surrounding area isn't the nicest which is why i'm assuming Hotel is probably a lot cheaper. I might price out how much it would be to go to Austin next year.

I know the surrounding area is Gheto we ( me & James site member ) stayed at a travel lodge was 30 minutes away off the highway really excellent property within minutes from a shopping district restaurants , mall, cinema complex . you do not have to stay close to the track cause in CA or Austin for example the cheapest hotel room is over a 150.00 minimum the farther away the cheaper it will be

Just wanted to post the updated 2014 Scedule:

In comparison with the earlier version of the provisional 2014 calendar, the Spanish event at Jerez is no longer Subject to Contract (STC).

Furthermore, there has been a reshuffling in the order of those races making up the late-season ‘triple-header’, which will now begin in Japan before moving on to Australia and Malaysia.

The provisional 2014 calendar is as follows:

23 Mar – Qatar* – Doha/Losail

13 Apr – Americas – Austin

27 Apr – Argentina – Termas de Rio Hondo

04 May – Spain – Jerez de la Frontera

18 May – France – Le Mans

01 Jun – Italy – Mugello

15 Jun – Catalunya – Barcelona-Catalunya

28 Jun – Netherlands** – TT Assen

13 Jul – Germany – Sachsenring

10 Aug – Indianapolis GP – Indianapolis

17 Aug – Czech Republic – Brno

31 Aug – Great Britain – Silverstone

14 Sep – San Marino & Riviera di Rimini – Marco Simoncelli Misano

21 Sep – Aragon – MotorLand

28 Sep – Brazil (STH) – Brasilia

12 Oct – Japan – Motegi

19 Oct – Australia – Phillip Island

26 Oct – Malaysia – Sepang

09 Nov – Valencia – Ricardo Tormo-Valencia

* Evening Race

** Saturday Race
