About the circuit
The fabulous Losail International Circuit lies on the outskirts of Doha, the capital city of Qatar. Built in little over a year, the track cost $58 million USD and required round-the-clock dedication from almost 1,000 workers in order to get it ready for the inaugural event - the Marlboro Grand Prix of Qatar on the 2nd October 2004.

The track itself is a flowing layout of 5.4 kilometres, surrounded by artificial grass designed to prevent sand from the neighbouring desert from blowing onto the circuit. The main straight is over a kilometre in length and there is a good mix of medium and high-speed corners, including a couple of quick left-handers which has proved particularly popular with the riders.

In 2008 Qatar celebrated the first night time Grand Prix in history, following the construction of permanent outdoor lighting. The switch to night time racing was a success and has continued to be so, with the Qatar event now established as one of the most spectacular on the MotoGP calendar.

Who will take poll, who will take the win, and who will be 2015 Champ? Time wil tell, i just hope for a safe season for all the riders, and some good fights!! Marc will be looking to threepeat, Vale wants 1 more championship badly which would give him #10. I'm a huge MM and VR fan, that being said id love nothing more than to see Vale take it this year, even better for it to come down to the last race!! Jorge will also be anxious to get back on top. Dani, well he will have his hands full thats for sure. Then theres the Ducs, will they be on the podium, can they fight with the Rep and Yam boys?? dont know just dont know?

After a successful debut of a new MotoGP™ slick tyre marking system in 2014, Bridgestone has introduced new colours to its tyres for 2015.
The revision to the tyre marking system has been the result of more options of slick tyre being offered by Bridgestone this season, as the Official Tyre Supplier to MotoGP™ continues to pursue development of race tyres that offer enhanced safety, durability and performance.

Alongside the four coloured markings used last year, two new slick tyre colours are added to this year’s classification scheme. A new extra-hard compound rear slick will make its debut at the Argentina round of the championship due to the severe nature of the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit, and this new development will be distinguished by a yellow stripe.

Bridgestone has continued development of its asymmetric front slick that was introduced in the closing stages of the 2014 season, and this year will offer this option at more circuits in various compound combinations. As only a maximum of one type of asymmetric front slick will be offered at a given round, these will be marked with a light blue stripe to help distinguish this option against the symmetric front slicks on offer.

Here are the colours for slick tyres in 2015:

As per last season, in 2015 two options of wet tyre will be offered at each round, and will adopt a marking system where the plain, black tyre denotes the harder option, and a white stripe will mark the softer option.

Hiroshi Yamada – Manager, Bridgestone Motorsport Department:
“The coloured tyre marking scheme we implemented last year was designed to make it easier for fans to see which tyre options we deliver at each race, and we’ve listened to the feedback from both MotoGP fans and media around the world to improve this system for this year. This revised tyre marking system not only reflects Bridgestone’s commitment to continue developing new tyres through the 2015 MotoGP season by offering more options to riders, but also helps increase the appeal of the sport by helping fans more clearly understand the importance of tyre strategy during the race weekend.”

Repsol Honda’s reigning MotoGP™ World Champion Marc Marquez cannot wait for the 2015 season to begin in Qatar.

The Losail International Circuit in Qatar once again hosts the opening round of the MotoGP World Championship this weekend. Defending champion Marquez will be looking to stake his claim for the title, in what is only his third season in MotoGP™, after winning at the Losail International Circuit in 2014.

Marc Marquez:
"I can’t wait for the season to begin! It’s been a long Winter and then testing was cut short in Qatar last week due to rain, which was very strange, but I’m confident going into this first race. This circuit isn’t one of my favourites but it’s still fun to ride and it marks the beginning of the Championship which is great. Let’s see how the conditions are after all the rain last week. As usual it will take a few sessions of the different classes on track to clear the racing line and then we will see how the grip level is. There are a lot of fast riders on fast bikes, as we saw during testing, so this first race weekend will be interesting for sure!"

Breaking News: Via David Emmett Twitter:
"Another sponsor goes, Drive M7 pulls out of deal with Aspar. NO sponsorship for Nicky Hayden or Eugene Laverty
"

Shock: Aspar team loses main sponsor Drive M7

By Günther Wiesinger - 25.03.2015-14: 26

The Team LCR fears for the main sponsor CWM, now the Aspar team of Jorge Martinez Honda was taken from a setback: Sponsor Drive M7 is about to retire.

Severe shock for MotoGP team owner Jorge "Aspar" Martinez. Last night it the owner of Malaysia's energy drink brand Drive M7 informed that they will not continue with the financial support of the Honda Open-class team with the pilots Nicky Hayden and Eugene Laverty in the 2015 season.

At the first Sepang test Feb. 3 to 5 of the four-time world champion had conducted negotiations and received the Drive-M7-manager in the paddock. "We have a contract for 2015 and an option in 2016," the Spaniard said at the time against SPEEDWEEK.com.

What the withdrawal of the main sponsor means two days before the first training in Qatar, is currently not in sight.

Martinez has in Spain over contacts up to the highest government circles. It's quite possible that he will spare thanks to its excellent connections within weeks.

But the sponsorship would probably lie in the amount of 2 to 3 million euros, if true Drive M7 makes his announcement and Martinez wants to bring the season with 18 races decent across the stage.

And the Honda team Fausto Gresini had been left in the fall down from the Italian energy drink manufacturers Go & Fun despite a valid contract for 3015. Other doses manufacturers such as Dark-Dog, Red Devil, Grizzly and Power Horse have largely disappeared from the motorsport scene.

Whether the withdrawal of Drive M7 also relates to the new SIC KTM Moto3 team from Malaysia with the KTM factory riders Zulfahmi Khairuddin and Jakub grain Feil, remains uncertain.

motomatters link: https://motomatters.com/news/2015/03...20(MotoMatters)

It has been a tough day for sponsorship news in the MotoGP paddock. After news earlier of LCR Honda's title sponsor CWM being subject of a fraud investigation, the Aspar Honda team have lost their title sponsor, Drive M7. The Malaysian energy drink firm have withdrawn their sponsorship of the team on the day before the 2015 season was due to start.

According to German language publication Speedweek, the Drive M7 management told team owner Jorge Martinez about the decision on Tuesday night. The decision was a surprise, as it had been expected that the deal would continue in 2015, with both Nicky Hayden and Eugene Laverty riding in Drive M7 testing colors during preseason testing.

No reasons for the withdrawal have been given, but the checkered history of energy drinks suggest that the smaller brands find it hard to justify the major investment which investment in top-level racing requires. The Gresini Honda team suffered a similar fate last year, when sponsor Go&Fun failed to pay sponsorship owed and withdrew in the middle of the season. There is a long list of brands which have come and go, including Dark Dog, Grizzly, Power Horse, and Troy Corser's personal sponsor, *****.

Drive M7's withdrawal could pose a larger problem for Aspar than the issues facing the LCR team. Though the cost of leasing the Open class Honda RC213V-RS is lower than the factory RC213V, LCR is believed to have taken a large part of its sponsorship as a down payment, ensuring that the team still has funds. Aspar now faces the loss of a major part of their budget. Jorge Martinez has very strong connections to the business community in Valencia, but with several investigations ongoing into corruption related to the F1 race at Valencia, including into former business associates of Martinez, those potential sources of sponsorship are drying up.
