I don't know. I think that if someone can prove themselves consistent by being in the TOP THREE every race? I think that's one heck of an achievement considering there are other riders that don't always finish in the top three and win a couple of races. Like the big headed guy, Pedrosa. He wins one and then all of sudden he can't crack the top 3?
That's not a mark of a champion. A mark of a champion is coming out the best (or near that) often. Rossi did it last year winning what, 11 of 14? And 8 the previous? That's great! But shouldn't the same be said about the ONE PERSON that's made the podium in EACH RACE this year sans one (because of the flu?) He had made 8 straight podiums going back to 2005 (where he finished THIRD in the championship race). This is an accomplishment. The only other person to come close is Capirossi.
So, it's too early to tell. Rossi, with a good bike, can tear it up. I've seen it. With my own eyes. He has a different something in him than the other riders. He'll dissect the crap out of the field. But I tell you, I really applaude Hayden's humility. He always gives credit to the other riders. Never bad mouths them, never forgets to mention them. That will always make him a champion with me...
