If Casey Stoner returned....

With all this talk going on with a possible return, would he do good?

He will not be coming back imo, if he did, with proper fitness and more track time he would likely be right up there with the others. He has been away from racing for a while; yes he's been testing with HRC but thats not the same as racing. Will be interesting to see how he does in the 24hr race next month

The people we see as the aliens, the ones that seem so far above the rest, are able to stay half a second ahead per lap. Think about what that actually means. You can barely snap your fingers twice in that amount of time.

Casey was amazing, and probably still would be, but he may have lost that half second advantage.

And that half second comprises of advantages in the hundreths of seconds added up around the track from that fraction they get on the gas, stand the bike up, brake a couple meters later, and carry that couple mph through the turns than the other guy. It's almost imperceptible to notice watching but those hundredths at any given action add up to a tenth or two per corner that add up to a half second a lap that separates the aliens from the mid grid pack. They are ALL phenomenal riders but at that level that razor's edge advantage makes the diff.

As far as Stoner coming back? Might as well ask the if of what would it be like if dinosaurs weren't extinct? Maybe nice thought exercise but pointless.

He's not coming back to MotoGP. He said as much at Catalunya just the other day.

That said, he's a freak. If he decided he wanted to he would still be one of the best. Certainly good enough to be in there with the rest of them given the time to get back in form and comfortable on the bike.

^^ agreed... he was willing to fill in for Dani on a few races and Honda wouldn't let him...they know he still has it...and they didn't want him to get in the way of Marc.

I don't think he would have been in the way of Marc, at least not for a good number of races anyway.
