Barros to replace Elais at donnington...

http://www.motograndprix.it/motogp/n...p?id_news=8597

Translated...

"It will be decided only tomorrow, but it seems that Barros will get Elias' place in Donington. The brazilian is preferred than Ryuichi Kiyonari and David De Gea as he had previous experience with the RCV, and for his contract with Honda Europe. Fausto Gresini likes Alex, as they had good results together in 98"

Good for Barros! He's been doing pretty well in SBK (though he always seems to get a bad start). It'll be nice to see him in MotoGP once again.

Dang, I was hoping to see the "Roman Emperor" on the track again this year. As much as I hated his "holier than thou" attitude, he did add some spice to MotoGP....

Highside Hell: Michel Fabrizio Out Of British Grand Prix
Queen Once Sang It: "Another One Bites The Dust"
by toby hirst
Saturday, July 01, 2006

Fortuna Honda stand-in rider, Michel Fabrizio, has been ruled out of the British Grand Prix after breaking a collarbone during this morning's third free practice session at Donington Park.

Fabrizio, who was replacing Toni Elias -- injured at Assen -- fell heavily exiting Goddard's corner. The Italian highsided from the satellite RC211V Honda, and the worst was confirmed a short while after the 60-minute run.

The grid is now back to 18 riders.

Doctor Costa will be able to retire early at this rate, his overtime bill must be a lengthy one.

So, wait - who is replacing Fabrizio now? Man, it would be awesome to see either Barros or Biaggi ride in GPs again. Barros deserves it, whereas Biaggi would bring pure drama to the entire scene - I love GP drama!

On a side note:

What I don't understand is why Kawasaki chose Randy de Puniet over Olivier Jacque, Max Biaggi, and a plethora of other qualified riders.

I'm sorry, but choosing RdP over others was Kawasaki's biggest mistake ever. That kid needs way more experience in 250s before they shipped him off to GPs.

All he does is crash or place very low. Just look at the other rookies, the do MUCH better than him at this point. I mean, I don't remember him doing that well in 250s either. Mainly, I remember Dani winning a lot with Casey RIGHT behind him. And when Dani wasn't winning, Casey was. Where was RdP during all of this? - in the gravel, methinks.

It would've been nice to keep the original rider, Alex Hofmann, too. Now the Hoffmeister got "demoted" to that awful D'Antin Ducati squad with the older versions of the Desmosedici. That team is like a virtual GP graveyard where riders go to effectively end their GP careers. Xaux and Hodgson were there for 1 year before they left. If he leaves, who will Hopper have to talk to? What a sad future...

Are you guys in agreement or am I alone on this one (ie Randy de Puniet sucking)?
