Bad crash for Iannone in FP1, resulting in a fractured vertebra. He has been ruled out for the rest of the weekend. Factory Ducati already had Pirro as a wildcard, so they'll still have two riders in the field.

I would love to see Vale wearing a Simoncelli tribute helmet. I dream of going to the Misano race weekend someday, being in that atmosphere would be awesome, especially if Rossi wins. Sh*t there are only 2 more years to do it!

With the way 2016 has been panning out, I'm sure it will be quite a show on Sunday. That really sucks about Ianonne.

yeah too bad for Iannone , hope he is ok.. Good job for Pol taking FP2! boy Vale was upset with AE as he entered the pits, looked over his shoulder then proceeded to block Vales line, Vale was pissed!! big time hand gestures at him, slowed down and looked at Aleix in pit lane and gave him the finger... as funny as it may be, not sure the finger thing in front of millions of fans was the right thing to do..

Yes Aleix was about to ride into pit lane and didn't move over to let Vale by, Vale said he looked at him so he was very upset and didn't understand why he didn't move over... theres video of it on social media sites already and I believe MotoGP main site

Vale explains: MotoGP News - San Marino: Rossi: With Aleix, it?s not the first time?

the thing is if you watch the video he really wasn't in Vales full line, yes he didn't go wide to let him through but wasn't totally blocking him imo, anyways frustration and pressure im sure is getting to everyone.

Marc Marquez showed overnight tweaks to the set-up of his Repsol Honda paid off as he scorched his way to the fastest time in MotoGP FP3.

Leading the championship by 50 points, Marquez was fast and consistent throughout, regularly lapping in the 1m 33s before his final run, which was faster yet again.

Marquez's final time of 1m 32.451s was 0.18s up on Jorge Lorenzo, who also appeared to have a considerable turn of pace.

Maverick Viñales was third fastest on Saturday morning, but fifth in the combined standings, with Pol Espargaro (third) and Dani Pedrosa (fourth) both failing to better their times from Friday. Pedrosa was an early faller at turn 15 but walked away unharmed.

Andrea Dovizioso was sixth overall, with Cal Crutchlow – another faller, this time at turn two – seventh. Valentino Rossi was eighth, with Michele Pirro (ninth) and Aleix Espargaro (tenth) making the cut for Q2.

The second Suzuki man, involved in a heated on-track exchange with Valentino Rossi on Friday afternoon, fell at the slow turn 15 early into the 45 minutes.

Alvaro Bautista (eleventh), Scott Redding (twelfth), Hector Barbera (13th), Danilo Petrucci (14th) and Alex Lowes (15th) will all be involved in this afternoon's Q1 session.

Alex Lowes is still impressing the hell out of me. Those are some pretty experienced names below him on the grid. I can't call him a "smooth" rider bc he manhandles that Yamaha, but he has far exceeded any expectations.

Marquez shouldn't have dawdled with Lorenzo coming out of the pits for his last run in Q2, maybe he would have gotten one more lap in. I don't think he could have taken pole, but he might have taken a front row spot.

Question is will it be the usual 3 fighting for the win tomorrow, or will we see Maverick in the mix.. Dani could also be a dark horse tomorrow, and lets not forget Cal, yes starting 7th but that could change.

Magic 8: Untouchable Pedrosa stuns in Misano
Repsol Honda rider becomes eighth different winner in 2016 after an unbelievable charge through the field
Tags MotoGP, 2016, GRAN PREMIO TIM DI SAN MARINO E DELLA RIVIERA DI RIMINI, RAC
3-time world champion Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) took a stunning victory at Misano World Circuit MArco Simoncelli, leaving rivals Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo in the dust to complete the podium (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP). Pedrosa's victory marks the eighth different winner in 2016 - an all-time first since the championship began in 1949. And he did it from eighth on the grid.

Lorenzo got the jump from pole, leading the field into Turn 1 as the Mallorcan so often does, with front row starter Rossi and Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki Ecstar) going head-to-head for P2 and the Italian coming out on top. Pedrosa got an incredible start from P8 to move him up into the front group, joining Viñales, Dovizioso and Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) in the squabble for P3.

Rossi soon struck at the front, sitting up teammate Lorenzo at the final corner and pushing the reigning champion wide, taking the lead and leaving Lorenzo and Marquez to chase him down - with Pedrosa the fastest man on track and setting a new lap record. Making a move against his teammate look easy and getting down into the 1:32s, Pedrosa was on the charge.

Setting his sights on Lorenzo and slicing through, the number 26 fixed his crosshairs on the race leader in Rossi's backyard - then passing the Italian with an aggressive move to sit him him, and concentrating on making a gap at the front.

Untouchable and back with a bang, the incredible ride through from P8 was completed as the 'Baby Samurai' shook off a helpless Rossi to cross the line with a healthy margin - as history continues to be made with the eighth different winner in 2016.

Marquez suffered a tough race to head over the line in P4, but retains a healthy lead in the title as the paddock head back to Spanish soil. Viñales completed the top five, beating home rider Andrea Dovizioso and temporary teammate Michele Pirro (Ducati Team) to the honor. Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) had a solid ride to P8, with Pol Espargaro (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) in P9 and an fantastic ride from Alvaro Bautista to get in the top ten in Aprilia Racing Team Gresini's home race.

MotorLand Aragon now awaits: no longer enemy territory Pedrosa, Marquez or Lorenzo as the flyways approach.

wow this just happened at the post race presser....
MotoGP San Marino: Rossi/Lorenzo in post-race verbal spat 11 September 2016
'He didn't need to do this overtaking, he was better than me today and he would pass me sooner or later, but he didn't need to be so aggressive on me' - Jorge Lorenzo.

Rossi/Lorenzo in post-race verbal spat
MotoGP San Marino: Rossi/Lorenzo in post-race verbal spat
Movistar Yamaha team-mates Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo became involved in an awkward verbal clash at Misano, with reigning world champion Lorenzo accusing the Italian of riding too aggressively.

Rossi made a strong pass on Lorenzo on the brakes to take the lead on lap two in San Marino, causing the Spaniard to sit up. A clearly irked Lorenzo, who was loudly booed on the podium by Rossi's fervent fans after finishing third behind race winner Dani Pedrosa and runner-up Rossi, said the move almost caused him to crash.

Repsol Honda rider Pedrosa made a similar hard overtake on Rossi later in the race to take the lead and The Doctor said he had no issues with the manoeuvre, stating: 'This is racing when you try for the victory at the end'.

Asked for his view on his overtake on Lorenzo, Rossi said: “Like I said before on the other side with Pedrosa, overtaking here at Misano is always a bit difficult, but I want to try from the beginning because I want to try to modify something because in Mugello, I was behind Lorenzo and it bring me unlucky with the broken engine, so this time I want to try to stay in front.”

Lorenzo was also asked for his opinion on the pass and the conversation between the pair unfolded as follows:

Lorenzo: “Well if you ask this question maybe it is because the move is aggressive because if not, then you don't ask this question. You can have different opinions: my opinion was that the overtaking was maybe too aggressive; he didn't need to make this overtaking, but you know this is his style. Other riders overtake more clean… [Rossi laughs].

Lorenzo: “It is true – you don't know?”

Rossi: “No, no, no. Try to look another time at the overtake on the television.”

Lorenzo: “If I don't pull up straight the bike, we crash – I crash. Maybe you don't crash, but I crash for sure.”

Rossi: “This is not true. I don't know what I have to say – Marquez overtake ten times like this at Silverstone. What you say like this is not true.”

Lorenzo: “It is my opinion, my opinion.”

Rossi: “Also you overtake always aggressive, also to me.”

Lorenzo: “When? This is my opinion, also Race Direction will have another opinion. For me, if I don't pull up the bike straight I crash. Anyway he didn't need to do this overtaking, he was better than me today and he would pass me sooner or later, but he didn't need to be so aggressive on me. He will have another opinion.”

Rossi: “Anyway, I do not agree.”

Rossi's runner-up finish saw him close the gap at the top of the championship to 43 points on Marquez, with Lorenzo in third, now 61 points behind the Honda rider and 18 back on Rossi.

The question was whether Rossi planned to overtake Lorenzo early in the race, and whether Lorenzo was surprised. The question didn't mention anything about aggression, or whether the overtake was questionable. Lorenzo turned it into a chance to whine about Rossi being aggressive. Personally, I didn't think there was anything wrong with it, just as I didn't think anything wrong with Pedrosa's very similar overtake on Rossi. Hell, last week had tougher action than today.

Meh... Both moves were hard, but not recklessly hard. The dude can ride, but he can nag equally well...
