Moto GP 2017 Round 5 Le Mans ***SPOILER***

Very suprising result in Jerez seeing both Yam off podium.... The Repsols looking better and better, and of course Jorge finally getting it done!! This will be a good one im sure Zarco will want the podium BADLY, will the Yams respond , only room for 1 winner and 3 on the podium, cant wait, Championship very close now, unless Vale wins here he will not be leading anymore.

About the circuit
Built in 1965 around the existing 24-Hour track, the Le Mans Bugatti Grand Prix race circuit lies 5km south of the city of Le Mans and 200km south-west of Paris. The venue has hosted Grand Prix since the late sixties but a serious accident to Spanish rider Alberto Puig in 1995 saw it struck off the calendar until 2000 whilst stringent safety improvements were carried out.

Le Mans is a tight track dominated by first gear corners that place the emphasis on late braking and hard acceleration, whilst rear end traction is also a key area. With the capacity to comfortably accommodate up to 100,000 spectators, the Bugatti circuit also plays host to the 24 hour truck race, the FIA GP2 Championship, French Touring Car and GT races.

Wet cond for FP1 and 2, Ducs looking good.
As the rain clouds dispersed and the track dried, Jack Miller got his slick tyres up to temperature and went about his work. The Australian dominated the closing stages of MotoGP FP1 at Le Mans, and sported a handy 1.2s advantage come the chequered flag.

The Australian was fast early into the 45-minute session, which began on a mostly wet track, and again as the clock clicked toward zero, as he routinely slashed full seconds off his personal best. An advantage that at one time stood at 3s was ultimately whittled down to 1.2 by Marc Marquez at the end.

Home hero Johann Zarco ensured Honda could not boast of a one-two-three as he demoted Cal Crutchlow to fourth in the closing seconds. Like Jerez, the Frenchman was the top Yamaha rider with Valentino Rossi's late jump pushing him to eighth.

Marquez was using the new Honda exhaust with which Crutchlow raced at Jerez in a session that, again, proved the RC213V's potential in mixed conditions. With Crutchlow fourth, it was left to Loris Baz (fifth) and Karel Abraham (sixth) to complete the top six.

Bradley Smith was a fine seventh for KTM, ahead of Rossi, stranded outside the top 20 for most of the 45 minutes before a late jump, Alvaro Bautista (ninth) and Maverick Viņales (tenth).

While Miller used slicks to his advantage in the closing minutes, his final time was still just under five seconds off the circuit record.

FP2
After a damp FP1, Andrea Dovizioso set the pace in a wet FP2 as weather conditions deteriorated at Le Mans.

Only Dovizioso and Scott Redding were able to improve on their morning times, when the leading riders used slick tyres in the closing stages.

The Friday rain means, should conditions improve as forecast on Saturday, only FP3 will be relevant as far as a top 10 place for direct access to Qualifying 2.
Sylvain Guintoli is returning to MotoGP, in place of injured rookie Alex Rins at Suzuki...

A drying track produces an explosive finish to FP3, as slick tyres allowed ever quicker lap times.

Scott Redding led the way, both KTMs broke into the top ten, but the likes of Danilo Petrucci, Johann Zarco (who fell), Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo missed out on direct access to the second and final part of this afternoon's qualifying session.

Sylvain Guintoli is returning to MotoGP, in place of injured rookie Alex Rins at Suzuki...

Jack Miller had a massive crash smashed into the wall bike and him flipped, he was big time lucky to escape injury.,,

“It was a nasty crash and I'm lucky to walk away with just some bruises," said Miller. "I had some locking on the front through turn one which sent me towards the wall and when I saw I wasn't going to stop in time I let go before I hit the wall."

Well i watched the race a bit late, wow! i was gutted for Marc going down, but so very upset for Vale :( a rare mistake from him to loose the lead on the last lap to then go down... Championship swings right back to Maverick.... Congrats for Zarco very happy for him to get on the podium, and awesome race from Dani well done..... still lots of racing left who the hell knows how the championship will go lol. That was nuts

Maverick Vinales has won a thrilling French MotoGP at Le Mans after team-mate and leader Valentino Rossi ran wide on the last lap, then fell while trying to close back in on the Spaniard.

Rookie Johann Zarco delighted the home fans by leading the early stages, holding a podium throughout, then being promoted to second by Rossi's exit.

Reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez also fell, while team-mate Dani Pedrosa completed the rostrum.

Sylvain Guintoli was returning to MotoGP, in place of injured rookie Alex Rins at Suzuki. The Le Mans circuit had been resurfaced for 2017...
