Nicky Hayden Has passed away :(

Heard this sad news on the way home from work today, he was on his bicycle training in Italy alone, car hit him :( prayers to you Nicky...
https://www.asphaltandrubber.com/wsb...bicycle-crash/
Nicky Hayden was involved in a serious collision with a car today, while training on his bicycle along the Rimini coast.
Hayden was riding with a group of cyclists, when an incident with a Peugeot saw Hayden struck by the car, resulting in the former MotoGP champion hitting the car’s hood and breaking through its windshield.
Details are light at this moment, but Hayden is said to have serious injuries to his chest and head from the crash. We will report more information as soon as we have it, and can verify its accuracy.
Updates on Hayden’s condition appear after the jump. This story was last updated at 11:29 AM.
UPDATE – 11:29 AM: Hayden is out of surgery, and has been put into a medically induced coma. He is expected to stay in the coma for the next 24 hours in order to faciliate healing.
UPDATE – 8:51 AM: Hayden has been transferred to Bufalini Hospital in Cesena near Forli, in order to see head and trauma specialists at that hospital. His condition is said to be very serious, but stable.

This morning I read in several papers that he is in pretty bad shape.

"Extremely severe condition, in induced coma in intensive care"

"Heavy craneal trauma that generated a brain edema", this is the doctors main concern.

He also has torax trauma and open fractured bone on one leg and due to his unstable condition they can't treat this wounds yet.

Guys, he is in real bad shape... send him your prayers and keep him in your mind.

BAD UPDATE:

(IN spanish)
Nicky Hayden se apaga poco a poco

Apparently the Italian doctors are waiting for Nicky's family to arrive to make "hard" decitions.

The paper says that there's no hope...

I'm shedding tears, such a nice guy, good guy....

I hope the paper is wrong...

Damn cage drivers! All those laps on the circuit, cheek and jowl with other racers couldn't do him in, but some dumb ass distracted driver sure could. Hope he pulls through. Long long way back to the track if he does. God bless you Nick one kentucky boy to another.

Nicky Hayden in serious condition :(

I've been following the developments closely since yesterday, there seems to be some mixed reports coming out, but even the official reports aren't good. This is a horrible situation and has really affected a lot of people, me included. I'm hoping things take a turn for the better and he pulls through. I've got a buddy that's friends with him and his brother so I'm going to try to see if he knows anything, but my guess is info is limited to close family at the moment.

Former MotoGP champion Nicky Hayden is in an "extremely critical" condition and has his family by his side after suffering "serious cerebral damage" in a cycling accident on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old American collided with a car while cycling on the Rimini coastline.

He had raced in the World Superbike Championship in Italy last Sunday.

Hayden, who has been racing for Red Bull Honda's World Superbike team, won the MotoGP championship in 2006.

"The young man, who is still in the intensive care unit of Cesena's Bufalini hospital, has suffered a serious polytrauma with subsequent serious cerebral damage," a hospital statement read.

"The prognosis remains reserved."

Polytrauma is a medical term to describe the condition of a person who has multiple traumatic injuries.

Vale's tweets his best wishes & support

Nicky is one of the best friends I've ever had in the Paddock. We've been teammates with Honda in his rookie year, 2003, when he was a young debutant at the first European experience. This season he closed with the world for me and with His first podium at Phillip Island. After a few years we fought one against the other for the 2006 World Cup until the last race and in the end, unfortunately for me, he beat me and became the champion of the MotoGP world. Race we gave our hand and we embraced. Afterwards we were still team-mates in the difficult years of Ducati, when several times we fought at the last blood, maybe to win the last place in the top five. Nicky often came to Ranch, where it was always a show to see him and try to capture some secret battling together, because he is one of the fastest flatters in the world an and before going to the asphalt he won the most important American Flat Track competitions com And the Peoria TT. The most beautiful thing I have about him is when he came to hand me after the unlucky race of Valencia 2015, on the lap of honor. For him he was the farewell to MotoGP, I had just lost the world. Supporting look inside the helmet is one of the few positive memories I have of that day. For Nicky, we're all with you.

:( yeah saw those Moe, reports from the driver is he came out of no where cut in front of me, I didn't see him coming... its irrelevant at this point as to who was at fault here, he was riding alone at the time too, so the guy who hit him likely had no idea who he was...

"In the last 15 minutes, we've seen a number of pages posting articles from very unreliable websites claiming that Nicky Hayden has passed away & people are sharing these & spreading the false news.

The latest update is unchanged from earlier - Nicky is in a critical condition and nothing else credible has been reported yet so please ignore sensationalist bullshit from pages using this tragic situation as click-bait.
We will continue to update this page as & when official updates are available." https://www.facebook.com/superbikefreaks/

Nicky Hayden: Earl Hayden Decries Fake News

By John Ulrich

My friend Earl Hayden is facing his own medical issues at home in Kentucky and is unable to travel while his son, 2006 MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden, lies in a hospital in Italy, mother Rose Hayden and brother Tommy Hayden at his side.

I spoke to Earl this morning, and adding to the family's pain has been a cascade of FAKE NEWS posted all over the internet, including by alleged professional news organizations that should know better.

Earl told me the following:

The family HAS NOT issued a statement that Nicky is dead.

Nicky IS NOT dead, although he is on life support.

Nicky was riding his bicycle alone, NOT in a group of 14 riders.

Doctors DID NOT perform surgery on Nicky.

Nicky WAS NEVER in an induced coma.

Yes, people want to know what is happening with Nicky, a great motorcycle racer, person and humanitarian. But making things up or failing to do even the most basic due diligence or fact checking, and posting FAKE NEWS for commercial purposes?

Have the guilty news organizations even considered the effect their FAKE NEWS has on the family and friends and true fans of Nicky and his family?

To paraphrase a famous quote from the 1950s related to manufactured facts, "Have you no shame?"

I used google earth around Misano & that specific road even that main road where the accident ocurred is not wide enough for a car or a bicycle at speed to swerve & avoid hitting one another even if they are going in oppiste directions . Also if Nicky was making a left hand turn onto that road where he got hit there is no way a car coming from his right a way would see him in time to avoid a collision there is probably no stop sign or a traffic light at that intersection

I havent seen a`any fresh news... All that has been stated above still remains...

Nicky is alive and fighting for his live.

According to the Italian police and the drive who hit Hayden's bike, Nicky seems to have failed to yield at a STOP sign, leving no chance to the driver to dodge him or brake... Information that is futile now...

Let's keep our hopes up and our prayers for Nicky.

Didn't want to say anything earlier but at the cost of stirring up hate, I gotta admit that was almost expected. Kinda reminds me of what happened to Schumacher. These guys tend to develop a superman syndrome and go on thinking they're invincible.

Not making light of the situation, sure sucks, but at the same time I find it a little hard to feel sympathy.
