Moto GP 2017 Round 16 Phillip Island ***SPOILER***

What an awesome battle between the 2 current leaders, love it!! Marc holding an 11pt lead, he will want the win here in a big way, Dovi will want to prevent it any way he can, should be another great battle!!

About the circuit

Phillip Island, the self-styled home of Australian motorsport, is steeped in motor racing tradition, with the first car races having been held there on public roads in the 1920s. The first motorcycle races took place in 1931 and a permanent track was built in 1956. The circuit fell into disrepair during the late 70s and early 80s until it was bought in 1985 and given a AUS $5m facelift. MotoGP returned in 1989 and 1990 before becoming a regular fixture once more from 1997 onwards.

The Phillip Island circuit is blessed with breathtaking scenery and beautiful ocean views and, as one of the fastest, most fluid, tracks on the calendar, it continues to provide some of the most spectacular racing in the MotoGP season.

WOW Best race of the year by far!!! was that moto3 or GP :P love it!!!! Too bad for Dovi though, and to get passed on the final straight by Scott and Dani oh boy..... MASSIVE points change, Marc may very well be world champion now after Sepang.... Amazing race from Vale!!

Race results from the 2017 Australian MotoGP at Motegi, round 16 of 18.

MotoGP
Marc Marquez wins a thrilling Australian MotoGP at Phillip Island as the Yamahas of Valentino Rossi, Maverick Vinales and Johann Zarco fight to the line for second.

A bad race for Andrea Dovizioso, after running wide early on, means Marquez's title lead has grown to 33 points with two rounds remaining.

Home star Jack Miller was returning to action after breaking his right tibia in a trials accident on September 29.

Tech 3's Jonas Folger returned to Germany on the eve of the Motegi round to undergo tests for a suspected recurrence of the Epstein Barr virus and was replaced this weekend by Broc Parkes.
