yea but it's just free practice. Doesn't really mean much. We'll have to wait and see the qualifying times.

He was using a qualifier. His fastest time in FP2 during one of his long runs was a 1:59.905 which would have put him 13th just ahead of Colin Edwards.

"As for the tyres, the front tyre seems to be working quite well here but we have some problems at the moment with the rear, especially in acceleration," revealed Rossi, the fastest Michelin rider on Friday. "After a few laps the grip is less and then when you open the gas the bike is sliding quite a lot. This was the main problem we were trying to fix throughout the day, and one of the things we did was to make a small change to the parameters of the traction control. This seemed to help and in the last ten minutes this afternoon we felt some improvement and the situation was better.

"Regarding the set-up, we have also worked on the mapping and engine braking; I still have a couple of corners where the engine braking needs to be improved in order to give me enough confidence when I'm coming into the corner.

"I hope that the weather will be good tomorrow because at the moment the track is quite slippery and in places it's tricky to ride," he concluded.

Team-mate Colin Edwards also struggled with grip issues and was only 13th fastest.
.
"My main problem today was basically that I didn't have much grip," stated the Texan. "We've tested pretty much all the tyres we have available to us but we haven't yet been able to find a solution that enables me to ride the bike how I want to. I improved a tiny bit this afternoon but everyone else improved a lot more! It's frustrating but I have faith in the team and I am sure we will come up with something tomorrow."

That sucks. I was hoping could get their game together over the summer break. Looks like they won't be able to keep up yet again. And what's up with the new Honda? Guess that didn't work out to well either.

Come on Rossi!!! Another win by Stoner would be devastating for Rossi's championship hopes.

Good for Guintoli though, I like that guy. Hopper too!

I really thought Honda was going to bring a banging bike. They say Hayden and Pedrosa are on the 08 bike. I wonder if they are having problems with the bike or if the tires are holding them back.

Well, then shoot. They shouldn't race at all. They should just go by the FP times then. Michelin should just pack up their bags and go home since Bridgestone dominated the FP. ?!?! What !?!?

If we've learned anything, it's that FP times don't really mean much in the scheme of how the race will go. That's fact.

Hayden and Pedrosa are running a bike that will contribute to the all-new 2008 bike, but it isn't in its complete form yet. There are still Honda testers running other iterations in Japan. Looks like the tires are holding the Honda riders back. Looks like Michelin didn't do very much during the summer. Those French! They thought the vacation meant they could relax!

Out of the top 10, 5 are Bridgestone runners. Michelin have got to step up their game.

Got a link bro to the qualifying? I can't wait to watch the race tomorrow it's going to be sweet. Even if Bstone runs away with it yet again.

the grid is currently....

1. Stoner
2. Nicky
3. Dani
Row 2
4. Hopper
5. RdP
6. Rossi.

Honda qualifying up front? WOOO HOOO!!!!

Did they fix the front end for Hayden? Are they making the power like Ducati? Are the brakes and suspension closer to that of Yamaha's?

this is gonna be interesting.

Well Honda has the 08 212 out this weekend. It's not all done but it's the first phase of the 08 bike. Looks good though. Hopefully they can tweak it up some more so Dani or Nicky can actually give Stoner a fight.

And according to Nicky the tires are holding him back. So looks like the bike is up to par finally and now Michelin just has to step it up and give him and Dani tires they can win on.

word.

good luck giving stoner a fight. Stoner's ahead almost .3 sec at Qualifying.

If he pulls .2 sec every lap on the Hondas, he'll easily take this.

Well qualifying tires are a completely different deal but yea I think Stoner is going to take this one pretty easy. Unless Michelin pulled sumtin outta there ass and has some amazing tire they are saving for race day but I doubt it.
