Seems like Stoner spent a lot of time in the garage and everytime they cut to him he was unhappy about something. Will definitely be an interesting race tomorrow.

It's time for people to quit saying that Stoner is only on top because of the bike, consistency like this is definitely the rider as well.

yeah....since Rossi's so inconsistent right?

it's the bike and the tires...especially that Bridgestone Front tire he's using.

You know, it can also be that the bike is CONSISTENTLY good. It's no lie that the bike and him are working real well. Unfortunately, I don't think Capirossi is receiving the full support/effort from Ducati, since it was interesting that the Ducati boss has conceded that Capirossi has given up on Ducati since signing with Suzuki.

But yeah, that Bridgestone front tire is amazing. Ever since they debuted it in Brno last year.

It looks to be a good race coming up with Hayden running up in the front row again. The dude's been putting in some good shows since they got the bike working for him. Good for him. I hope he has a good race. Dani seems to be off the pace. Tight track with limited passing will make for an interesting show.

Here are the QP times:

1. Casey Stoner AUS Ducati Marlboro Team (B) 1min 33.918 secs
2. Valentino Rossi ITA Fiat Yamaha Team (M) 1min 34.094 secs
3. Nicky Hayden USA Repsol Honda Team (M) 1min 34.469 secs

Well, it's dry now. But the rain had infiltrated the paddocks such that they were putting up barriers and literally pushing water out with shovels. Anyways, I was thinking... What if Rossi walked over to the Repsol paddock and solicited the help of Nicky Hayden, an ex-teammate, to run in tow from the front row. Basically, to run a blocking scheme on Casey. Hopkins would get a good start, and would naturally run right behind Hayden. This is really the only way I see Rossi duking it Stoner, is if he had a little help from an old friend. It would simultaneously put Hayden in a podium spot. How cool would that be? Old teammates... Shake... and bake!

Rossi and Hayden riding together?

that'd be fukkin amazing. Everytime they get the bike working for Hayden (ie. set it up for dirt-style riding where he points the front by sliding out the rear) he shows that he can hang.

The front was his main issue this year. Sh*tty grip, coupled with the wrong setup where he couldn't use the rear brake cuz the front would give out, are hopefully a thing of the past.

I hope he finishes strong, same with Rossi.

As nice as it maybe I don't think Hayden would give. Wishful thinking I suppose. Also, why not the other way around? Yamaha, until now haven't shown the speed of both the honda or the ducati. Why not Rossi give the tow to Hayden and Hopkins? Makes ya think huh?

As far as the Bridgestone front, well not much to really say about that except wasn't has been said already.

Dani... Poor boy has been talking about lacking grip. Interesting how Hayden is in front on the Qualifying grid. I want to see Puig talk smack now!! PUNK!!

Pretty cool idea, but thats assuming someone can get in front of stoner enough to block him. Who knows, with the way that Duc is running.

I smell......CONTROL TIRE for next season.

take one variable out of the equation and we'll see who REALLY has the best bike, rider and tuning crew.

I smell burnt eye-brows. :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:. bwahahaha.

Seriously though, I wouldn't be shocked if this happens. Especially since Michelin have come out and said that they will pull out of M0t0GP if they enough teams aren't using their tires. Maybe Dorna and FIM should look into this deeper? Just like WSBK did a couple of years ago?

In all honesty I am praying Michelin doesn't bite the dust because of one bad season. That would be very stupid of them.

Hayden was no-where in the session (along with Pedrosa) until the qualifiers went in - I don't think he has a good setup on race tyres and won't be able to run with the pace at the front.

As for a control tyre in MotoGP.... it's not going to happen.

I think Rossi is gonna take this one. He likes this track and feels comfortable on it, Stoner doesn't. I think that comfort level is gonna give him the edge when it comes down to a battle between the two of them.

Good job for Hayden on the front row too. I wanna see Hopper up on podium again though!

Eh, unless Rossi finds something significant in the setup overnight and in the warmup Stoner is going to win this one. In practice he's had a half second or more on Rossi the whole weekend. The Michelin qualifier is still good enough for the Michelin runners to do well in qualifying but it seems like they're still in trouble on race tires.

Stoner really doesn't have to over do it at all in this situation. All he has to do is outscore Rossi by 5 points in the next three races and he will lock up the championship with 3 rounds to go. Rossi has to pull out the stops and ride like a wildman if he is to have a chance. Even then, Rossi has to hope that Stoner crashes at least once, and finishes third or lower from here on out. And unfortunately for Rossi 3 tracks are coming up that Ducati did very well at next year, and of course Philip Island is Stoner's home race. Miracles can happen, but the stars don't seem to be aligned in Rossi's favor.

I will rather enjoy seeing Rossi dig deep and ride his ass off though.

Eventhough I'm not tipping like this, I'm going to call it here first... right now. Rossi wins. Stoner DNF! He'll crash and show his first signs of weakness!

I actually stayed up all night to watch this race live...I wish I hadn't. Stoner pretty much has this championship in the bag now; he is unstoppable!

That really sucks for Rossi, he was so pumped about racing in front of all his fans. Sucks for Hayden and Pedro too. Good to see Hopper on the podium though!

The race just ended on Speed.

There is an hour of my life I wish I had back. Im really losing interest in MotoGP. I just dont find it terribly exciting these days - the AMA superbike race before that was much more exciting.
