OTHER BITS OF NEWS:
> YAMAHA
announced that Lorenzo will be in full-factory support as Rossi's teammate AND they will be on MICHELIN rubber for 2008. No say on what the Tech3 tires will be but probably going to be Bridgestone.
> DAVIDE BRIVIO was quoted to say that he does NOT want the tire rule changed for 2008 thus giving critics the opportunity to say those changing the rules were doing it for Michelin and Valentino, not because of the effect it's having on the sport.

repsols slightly behind... but the top speed advantage is still.

Free practices mean nothing unless you're Casey Stoner who's dominated from the first practice through the race. The other thing of note is how certain riders are getting on with race tires. Sometimes, they find something on the first day and so with new tire rules, FPs mean everything. Maybe in the past it's meant nothing, but in 2007, trends are set early.

By the way, in the case of the Tech3, this is the second race in a row where they've used a qualifying tire in FP. So, for them, it means nothing other than their best QP tire isn't faster than other teams' race tires.

We might actually be in for a good race instead of a Stonehead domination. Let the fun begin. Let's hope no one gets punted in the first lap. And I hope Guintoli isn't on a qualifier and that he's actually on a race tire. I know getting on top of the time sheet is great, but what does that information telling you if your burning through qualifiers in FP?

Bah! I'm wrong. Looks like the only who's consistently in the 1'37s is Stoner. Everyone else is 1+ second off the pace. Even though Nicky was toggling with Stoner to get the fastest laps of the day, Stoner is the only one putting in 37s. Domination people, better put Stoner at the top of your tips!

Based on ultimate timing trap times, the three strongest riders are: Stoner, Rossi and Nicky -- the champion subsequent, the champion precedent and the champion incumbent.

But, yeah, I'm optimistic. The only one that got faster towards the end of the FP was Rossi, picking off his fastest lap on 25 of 26. Nicky, Stoner, Hopkins all had theres in the 5-7th lap of the session, real early and didn't get much faster after that.

Guintoli's on a Qualifying tire for FP3. Psssh...

rossi hits back with a jump, and is within .8 of casey's time.

casey is in the 1.36s but Rossi has already beaten his FP3 time.

Poor Rossi "First row is always the target but 3rd is not the ideal position".
