So here is the thing... I have owned my 2007 CBR600RR since new in 2008. I switched to GP shift a few years later. Then in 2012ish I put on a set of woodcraft rearsets and set them up with GP shift. Everything was fine and dandy until I bought a 2009 Suzuki DRZ-400SM this past spring. I intended on setting up the DRZ with GP shift pattern also. But after owning it I discovered that no aftermarket companies offer a solution, and fabbing a solution would prove very difficult and costly. I thought for a while that I could get used to standard shift pattern on one bike and GP shift on the other. Many miss-shifts later (thankfully no scary situations resulted) I have come to the realization that I will never get used to riding different bikes with different shift patterns. I decided that the best solution would be to convert my CBR back to standard shift. Easy peasy no problemo, right? Well, not quite. The woodcraft rearsets on my CBR do allow for the functionality of both shift patterns. I knew this, and one day walked out to my garage to make the change back to standard shift. This is where things didn't go so well. The push-rod on the rearsets attaches to the gear selector, and if this gear selector is mounted pointing upwards - that is GP shift... Mounted downwards is standard shift. So I swapped the gear selector so it points downwards, and this is where the problem arose. The selector now hits/rubs the coolant lines that run by the front sprocket cover, effectively impeding gear changes.
On to where I need help. It was 7+ years ago when I installed the woodcraft rearsets. I don't remember if they came with some piece that I am now missing which allows for standard shift to work, or if I am just doing something wrong. So, to my forum friends who have the same rearsets: Can you provide any insight here? Are any of you running standard shift? Can you provide a close up pic of the left side rearset set up? How is the push-rod linkage oriented for your standard shift setup?
Any help would be appreciated!
Cheers,
Parker
