Just installed the fork stem x-grip. As far as I can tell, everything was installed correctly. The part that's inserted into the fork tube seems pretty stable - it won't come out. However, the top of that part rotates. So, when my phone is hooked up to it, the whole phone ends up rotating constantly. Has anyone experienced this? Looking for some insight before I rip it apart.
Sounds like that center bolt isn't tight enough. I had same issue with mine, ended up taking the mount to Home Depot and got some different hardware so I could tighten it down more without stripping the nut. Maybe try tightening it some more, and if you can't get it tight without the ball rotating, go get some new hardware and crank her down. Good luck
i cut off a shorter piece that i should (based off the instructions, so it really snug in the fork stem.
but that also allowed me to tighten the center bolt more without having to worry about over tighten or striping anything.
But to answer your question, yea i know another of other riders who has theirs rotate - but it seems to be stable while riding with the weight of the phone on it.
