2003/2004 cbr problems
 
I am going to check out a 2003 and a 2004 cbr later this week and was just wondering if there was any big problems with these first year rr's. The 04 has 25k on it and the 03 has 18k. The f4i that I had was around 35k and still running strong so I don't think I should worry about the millage. But I have never owned a rr so I was just wondering if there were any big design flaws or anything to that degree.

The only recall I believe was for the nut/bolt the secures the rear brake res to the right rearset. Not a huge deal. Other than that it's a Honda and a very sound bike.

:+1: Bring the bike to a Honda dealership and they will do it for free, and it only takes about 20 minutes. I have a 03' and I love it. No matter what year you'll be satisfied, guaranteed.

i know the gauge cluster buttons stop working but its an easy fix.

you dont have to take the entire cluster off though.
i have an '04 and i love it. lots of fun.

im at 15 with original chain and sprockets and brake pads. as long as the routine maintenance was done and they havent been down too hard you have nothing to worry about.

Nearing 60,000 miles on my 2004. Never an issue outside of regular maintenance. The only issue I have had is the buttons on the gauge cluster don't work. Not a big deal, and happens to them all.

I hear some of ours have a problem adjusting the clock, never tried though

Well I went and looked at the 04 cbr rr tonight. It has 23k on it, there was no cracks on the fairings and it is all bone stock minus the flush mounts on the front. He wants 3200 for and he is throwing in a joe rocket and a scorpion helmet. I rode the bike despite the bitter 27 degree weather haha and it all felt right the brakes all seemed strong and everything check out minus one problem haha the chain was so dang loose i could almost fit my hand turned long ways under it haha I dont know if I should be concerned with that or not but I figured just get it home and put a new chain and sprocket kit on her. Idk this will be my first rr my last bike was a f4i so let me know what you guys think 32 a good price on this deal. The tires are in great shape to forgot to mention that.

ok , so here are the problems ive faced so far with my 04 w/ 30k miles (keep in mind after buying i very soon realized that the previous owner beat the ever living hell out of it)

1. fork seals blown horribly (fixed 200 bucks)

2. Clogged oil pickup tube from the guides shredding themselves! (fixed 1100 bucks)

3. cam chain tensioner / GUIDES!! (buzzing noise while its running) (cost was part of above)

4. chain and sprockets were worn to hell (110 bucks)

5. brake pads (70 Bucks )

6. front rotors

7. the buttons don't work on the dash (common)

some of these are maintenance issues so its not per say the bikes fault, but so far i've got a 1000 dollars into this bike, the chain guides have now been replaced, so that was 1100 bucks with the oil change and all the work that had to be done to the bike. Now i have to hope no other problems arise!!! fingers crossed please haha
