an 800RR would be PIIMMMP!!!!

I could already imagine a 14.5k revving 800cc, with 140hp. I'd drop a down payment in NO time.

Yea that would be AWESOME!

They should, they know it would sell!

Then eventually AMA could adopt it as well! :D

From an AMA/FIM stand point, an 800cc inline would have to compete with 1000cc inlines, open class and 1K twins, Honda being deply involved with race and production probably wouldnt make an 800RR. look how many Gixxer750's are out there racing against the open class bikes... none. Face it, winning races sells bikes, and most of the time at that high level of racing a 750 or lets say, an 800, probably wouldnt beat a 1000. Unless they change the rules, that would change everything...

You do have a proven point involving racing support for the bike, but you have to remember there are no classes for the Gix750 and it probley sells more than the 600s do.

That it does, and with its latest release, is probably next to the 675 on being the best on the streetability factor out of the box.

Wow, that would be a wild bike. Can we say production v-5? ;P

Yea that's why it would take TIME.

The manufacturers would have to see that there would be enough of a following to know that it will make it's money back+++ because of the MILLIONs it cost just to design such a bike...

But eventually it could happen. Look at GP, they race on PURPOSE BUILT tracks! and decided to restrict these bikes back.

AMA races on makeshift race tracks that put the racers is dangerous situations.

IF anyone should have cut back on cc it should be AMA. Maybe over the next years they will. Doubt it tho...

I will absolutely buy an CBR800 the day it was released!

It would be pretty freakin cool to have the rise of the 750 v-4's come back to sportbikes. I don't care if its a bit heavier, that can be fixed, just to hear that sound would be worth it. Hell, they changed the rules to allow the 675... why not an 800 v4?

Completely differant motor and bike. Not happening. Frames to wide, better off fabricating a one off to fit it.

They are not getting rid of the Hornet 600 and 900. They are among the bestselling bikes in the rest of the world (especially the 600).

It's just the last year that Honda will be selling them in the US. (Sadly.)
My bad, the Honda guy I was talking to said they were "going away" which I took as being discontinued.

I'd rather see a newer RC-51 type bike with a V-5 engine. now that would be sweet

06 was the last year for the RC51. The 599 is no longer available in the US. The 250rr is available in Japan as well as 450rr (if memory serves correctly).

750 sells well because of the History of the GSXR and because it's seen as an "upgrade" bike, and the best of both worlds. I doubt Honda could compete in that market segment. And I'm a Honda man.

the engine CC's that the different companies choose is driven by the different race classes - which currently (other than motogp and the wera suzuki-only 750cc class) are 600 and 1000cc. If you have ever been to any wera race you will notice that usually about 60 to 70% of the bikes are suzukis. the reason for this is that suzuki offers prize money for those who win wera races - the other companies do not. And Thus, wera has a 750cc race class to boost the popularity of thier GSXR 750. If ama or world superbike were to have a inline-4 750cc class then and only then would you see a production 800rr....which i could see happening in maybe 4 or 5 years if motogp really likes the 800 class - eventually it will bleed over. I would love to see an 800rr - in 4 or 5 years - that would be a 150+ HP bike that would probably weigh as much as our current rr.......

I think the superbike (AMA, WSBK & other) rules state that manufacturers will maintain the current engine volume (998cc) through 2010. So I'd say not a chance in hell anytime soon.
