Now proceed to remove the 2 screws attaching the dash to the fairing stay:

Now flip the entire stay assembly over and remove the 3rd screw securing the dash:

Now unplug the harness from the back of the dash, peeling back the rubber to expose the little tab needed to pull it out:

Now box up your dash and send it to BrowningBuck for the gear indicator and LED color change MOD!!

Ok, here's a brief 'How To'

What you need:
- An '07 or '08 CBR600RR
- A good soldering station
- Some PLCC2 LED's, you can get them from oznium.com
- Long nose plier, or whatever you wanna call it
- A little bit of mechanical/electrical aptitude
- Accept that if you fvckt it up it's your own fault, heheh.

To remove gauge cluster, follow service manual, in a nut shell: remove fairing stay (4 flanged hex head screw and 2 socket cap screw), remove connector then remove gauge from fairing stay (3 phillips pan head screws).

next is to revisit what i did and swap the LED for the needle back to RED!!

you can remove that clear plastic deal without desoldering, just pull straight upwards on the needles base, it pops right out. then remove the 2 faceplate screws, just dont scratch it..



what i want to know is what the dual a k points are on the pcb between the needle and the gas guage screen.... hmmmmmmmmm do i see a potential hookup for a rev light???????

Man that is badass! Im all accustomed to the warm glow of the stock dash though. If anything I would want it to be more red. Like a bimma.

Guys, two quick questions as I prepare my approach for installation of the gauge cluster (with Brownbuck's gear indicator).

1) I assume after programming, the unit retains its programming after the battery is removed?

2) Is there any way to access the programming button once the cluster and upper is installed (I didn't pay attention before disassembly).

interesting, i just changed mine to white and the needle is red /orange.
what colour is yours with no lights on?? cause mine is red/ orange.

how do you get the gear indicator in the dash, do you need to cut anything out?? any how to's for that?

 

Can someone please advise me of the part numbers for the three screws as above in the photos as I have lost one, I mean the ones that connect the clocks to the meter panel.

I have found now that I have taken off the front of my bike again to screw the clocks on properly that I don't have the place to screw in the 3rd screw to the meter panel and the trumpet parts are also missing but I am not sure what to do.
Can someone please advise me?
