Okay so my bike has been acting up more than a teenaged kids pimply face for the last week. It all started when the other day I went to start my bike and the damn thing jsut wouldnt kick over. Really you just pressed the start button and it would barely turn over and eventually after two tries would just click and thats it. So I push started it and rode off. Later that day when I had stopped and was starting it back up it would BARELY turn over and would almost do the same thing as before but out of no where would jsut start. . .
Than today I am riding to the bay area and have been riding none stop for about 45 minutes when I notice that my HID's are really really dim. So I turn them off and back on and they are working, but one of them is still very very dim, almost to the point it is out. So I just turn em off and keep riding. Well just 1 minute down the road the bike just shuts off. I didnt hit the kill switch or anything, but the tach jsut drops to zero, engine turns off, and the red light turns on. So I pull in the clutch and turn her off and coast to the shoulder.
Let it sit for like 3 minutes and hope back on and it does the barely start thing again, but does in fact start. I ride it home and try to start it again. Once again it barely starts but does.
So. . . I think its my battery but wanted to know everyones thoughts on this. The bike did sit for about a year and a half, then i bought it in August of last year. Ride it almost every other day without any problems though. It does have 9700 miles now though (compared to 800 when I bought it). So is it just time for a new battery or is it something far more serious such as alternator or starter problems?
