Nice write up Moe. DEFINITELY practice your quick stops! I'm glad I do all the time in empty parking lots. I was riding going about 70 mph and the light turns yellow I was like SH!T, pulled that clutch in and shifted down gears...I barely had time to react I ended up halfway into the intersection when I fully came to a stop I had to walk the bike back so car could turn left. BTW: The road I was driving on was Route 1 so wasn't a public street, I would never want to endanger myself or others.

Ouch

got cocky after one or two measley months and like 1900 miles.....had a get off doing only like 15-25, cager lefts into gas station no signal and alot of brake..... I grab too much brake and bite the pavement...separated shoulder and I think a cracked rib... most painful part was that I called progressive and reported it !! DUH !!!!!
Never touched the cager and of course they didnt stick around

Great write up Moe. One book that I find myself constantly re-reading is "Sport Riding Techniques" by Nick Ienatsch. He was (might still be) a journalist with some decent AMA experience, therefore the book is well written and informative. Now, I'm not saying it is the all encompassing riding book, but it does have some great tips.

I've always been a strong believer that the day I stop learning new things about riding will be the day they put me in the ground.

thanks for the write up moe, i also watch for front tire movement as im passing in my peripherals...

Good writeup! I will definitely show it for friends who are learning riding the bike! There are a few points which I learned from experience ....

Moe man. Ive been reading up on alot of your post because you put out there the real world kind of applications. I know you said there are so many newbies here recently, (me included) We all, even the experienced riders as just a refresher, should study this stuff and try to apply it more efficiently cause you never know when you realize you are getting too comfortably on the road or starting to forget the basics.

Good write up. Im printing it now.

I was going through an intersection across from my neighborhood last night I gave enough time for the people to do their red light sprinting. As I start riding through, the lane of traffic where they turn left towards the direction I am leaving had been sitting there waiting for their light. Im heading straight and suddenly this chick in her new red convertible eclipse decides to go through and almost t boned me. I had to front brake kinda hard then let go and swing in behind her. Alot of cars honked at her for the stunt she pulled while I see blue lights getting turned on from the foodlion parking lot. I head that way the cop took off to get her. She pulled over. The driver cop gets out and approaches her car while the other cop gets out and comes up to me. He asked me how old I had been riding and explained how he owns a cbr himself. Told him 2 weeks and he said good looking out there and it could had been nasty.

I tried to persuade him in joing our dot net but who knows if he will show up lol
