What is the middle "position" light for?

I'm thinking of painting over the middle light on the front between the headlights. What is the point of it? I don't see it on any other bikes really?

Hm. I just think it looks kinda ugly.

from my understanding... i dont know how much truth there is to this...

that light is set there cause it is just a hit higher and for most cars it shines directly into their rear view mirror which catches drivers eys and that light is set close to eye level for most drivers coming at you..

like i said i dont know how much truth there is to that since all cars sit different heights and all people are different heights...

anyways, i pulled the bulb in mine put tape over the end of the connections and put bulb back in.. that way light is out, hole is plugged and i will never lose the light if i ever want to put it back in.

Yah I've seen people put blue or red. Bad idea. Can't shine blue or red forward. I just don't really like the look of it, and none of my other bikes have had it. I think the superwhite headlights are visible enough, but I dunno. Doesn't anyone else not really like it?

its actually a "parking light."
you'll see other manufactueres integrating it with the rest of the cluster such as on the zx and yzf's.

however, if you look on the ducati 999, you'll also see this "parking light"
Parking?? Uh, yeah....
i don't know!! i call 'em the way i see 'em!!
if you do a search for "parking light" with quotes, on search engines, along with cbr600rr, or ducati 999, 749, blah blah, you'll find that its called that a lot more often that you would think. :(

my thought? it's there to tell fellow 600rr riders that a comrade is coming up behind them at night. I was in my car the other night and saw a bike behind me. I could tell from about 20 yards in my rear view mirror that it was an RR. very cool. the light is brighter than it seems, and it doesn't get drowned out by the headlight.

^ That's farkin funny.

I grabbed some hyperwhite 194s. Can't hurt to have the extra visibility.
