Well I guess it's time to start a build thread. The back story is I got the bike in 2008 while I was still in school. I've put about 23k miles on it and finished paying it off a couple years ago. Got the itch for a new bike and started looking at the MV Agusta Brutale 800s but in light of current situations I decided it wasn't the best time to take on an extra monthly payment. So to take care of the urge for a new bike I decided to start taking mine apart and giving it a face lift.

Already started doing some modifications and ordering parts. Unfortunately since I travel a lot I probably won't be able to update it as frequently as some members. I'm hoping though that this thread will keep me motivated and in the garage picking away at it. Enough with the talking, time for some pictures.

This is the bike before:

Damage to the bike from some ass who did a hit and run on my bike while I had it parked on the side of the street

Shattered the right side mirror as well but I replaced that a long time ago for obvious reasons

Pictures of my bike now:

K&N filter I put in

Driven plates for the pair block off

Vortex rearsets

Galfer SS brake lines

I'll have to try and update this tomorrow. I have all the decals off except for the tank decals
I'm actually struggling with the tank decals (clear coated over) right now. I've tried razor blade and hair dryer and i've made very little progress. I'm going to just sand over them to remove the clear coat and take them off that way since I have to sand the tank down anyway for primer.

Right now i'm waiting for new seats from steetskinns with red stitching, PSR rear brake reservoir and repsol DOT 4 brake fluid. Hopefully by the end of the month I will have order a Rizoma front brake fluid reservoir and a brake bleeding kit so I can start putting some parts on!

Started working on the PAIR delete last night and stripped one of the Phillips head on the velocity stacks :banghead:
Didn't take me time and move the ecu wires out of the way and tried to loosen the bolt at a poor angle. Oh well lesson learned, going to get an easy out kit to remove it and hopefully finish the PAIR mod tonight.

Well tonight went alright for me. I was able to get the stripped bolt on and get to the PAIR. Put the new driven block off plates on and made it back to putting in the airbox and that's where I gave up for the night. Getting the airbox back in while keeping the rubber connecting portion in place has been a nightmare for me. I'll give it another shot tomorrow and hopefully gut the air intake.

Anyone that has experience putting their airbox back in on a 07-08 feel free to chime in. I am struggling to get this back in and lined up. I feel like I have the rubber mid as far forward and in the frame as possible but something is still keeping it from going in. Might pull it all back out again and make sure the throttle cables are where they should be.

So as you can see in the picture the airbox needs to go about 2-3 inches forward and down an inch. I can't push the rubber portion into the frame anymore that I can tell. If anyone has any experience with this and how they got theirs back in let me know. Pual's PAIR removal write up just says to put it back in ass end first which I did but still no luck.

Not trying to jack your thread but I am a newbie. What are the driven block off plates? Purpose?

PAIR introduces fresh air back in to help with emissions. Block off plates stop that so when you do a tune you have a more accurate fuel to air ratio. I plan on getting a full exhaust and a tune at a later time. Also shaves about a lb but I'm doing it more for the ease of tuning.

I got the air intake gutted or well I guess you would say it's a partial gut. I didn't remove the rounded portion at the front of the intake as I feel it doesn't have that much interference with the flow. Now that I have the K&N filter in, PAIR mod, and air intake gutted I can move on to the fun stuff. That is if I can ever get my air box back in the bike. :cursin:

Well I am back in town and was able to work on the bike this weekend. Finally got the airbox back in and lined up by using, don't laugh, KY lube on some of the push fit/low clearance parts of the airbox and rubber inlet.

I also got the air intake back on as well as the headlights and cluster

One snag I ran into was when I put the tank back on getting the two hoses that come off the bottom back to their original spot. Anyone with an '07 feel like taking a close up picture of the way the hoses are routed to assist me with putting them back in correctly?

I'm talking about these guys

Well I got the exhaust off today. It went pretty smooth with the exception of one bolt that I had to hit with WD-40 due to pretty bad rusting. All in all though not bad for 23k miles on it and seeing some dirt roads.

Looks like I need to doing some cleaning

I got the CF tank panels in today. I'm going to need to clean up a few light scuff marks and finish painting my fairings before I can install them. If you are looking to get some CF tank panels I probably wouldn't recommend this brand (Carbon Dynamics). There is some bubbling around the one corner by the bolt and the weave has some gaps in a few spots. The other downside is it doesn't have any tabs to go into the tank which will make it easier to install but i'm worried about how well it will stay attached and not vibrate. Anyway here are pics of the parts

Got the fairings washed and some of the decal goo removed until I ran out of 3M adhesive remover. I'm going to get some more tomorrow and then I should be ready to start sanding and putting some primer down this weekend. Should have some pics up this weekend
