08 TPS issue

Hello everyone,

I've got an '08 600RR with 17k miles that I just did valve shims on, all went well on the mechanical side, and I'm having some electrical issues.

On its first startup, it idled at 1100 RPM and would sit at 1400 RPM when given a slight blip of the throttle. Any throttle past that point would immediately shut off the engine.

I'm getting an 8 blink code on the FI light, which is the TPS, so I started testing with a multimeter. I've got 3 wires: a black, a blue, and a yellow. The blue and yellow both read 5 volts, and the black reads around 4.84 to 5.08. I ordered another TPS for testing and got similar results.

Any suggestions on what it may be? I've checked every wire for damage and found none.

Thank you.

8-1 = low tps V (below 0.3 VDC) or loose connection/poor contact.

8-2 = high tps V (above 4.93 VDC) sensor or circuit malfunction.

If you can get a Dynojet PC3-5 or above(?) It has a lovely real time TPS V indicator that helped me TS a poor TPS.

Turned out was not a tps prob....it was a defective PC5.....

There's very few threads on here about bad TPS problems....and replacing the TPS requires calibration....which is much easier to do w/a PC5......
Check connect carefully....sometimes the wires can be corroded inside the clip on either side of connect.....and you can't see it w/o a sharp look.....but crummy connect/corrosion is doing it's job and f'ing up the signal?

BTW, 8-1 or 8-2?

So, you're not sure what the problem is.......maybe TPS....maybe not?

don't mess with it more?

" then a few other codes caused my stuff not being plugged in.

put everything back to original, and see what's going on?
