ok, this is actually quite complicated. Here is the basic rundown:

1. Dunlop 211GP ($500) - Manufactured in Great Britain, these are a completely revolutionary tire which utilize dunlops n-tech technology and an entirely new compound (211). i don't feel like explaining n-tech so look it up. recommended PSI's for these are 31 front 21 rear COLD

2. Dunlop Sportmax GP ($250) - These have the new 211 compound, however they have a more traditional carcass which is not ntech and they have a 209 tread pattern. Recommended pressures are 31 front and rear COLD

3. Dunlop Sportmax GP-A ($350)- These have the new 211 compound, a 209 tread pattern AND n-tech technology. they are meant to be a copy of the original great britain 211 in every way except tread pattern. Since the GB211's were upwards of $500 per set due to import duties, dunlop decided it would make more sense to produce what is basically the same tire here in the US and be able to sell it for $350. recommended psi for these are 31 front 24 rear COLD.

Call Sport tire about them. Ask them what is what with Dunlop race tires. Or better yet, see them at the track and they can show you in the trailer what the look and feel like. Slap a set on for you pretty quick too.

I have heard of all different kinds of tires by different names, including D209s that were not DOT tires but street tires. Ask them people that distribute them or race them. They are the only ones on the west side of the US that distributes them so they know their tires.

They are pretty good tires and come in different compounds.

 

I have a set of Dunlop Sportmax GP and in smaller print it says d209gp and it also says made in Great Britain. Im confused!

 

what you have is 209's. That is a different tire to all three that i mentioned above. those are the OG N-techs from a year or two ago. 211 is the newer tire which is supposed to be replacing the 209.

i'm not sure about 209's but dunlop specifies 33 front, 23 rear off the warmers, or roughly 20-21 rear and 28-30 front cold for track use for the 211's. hopefully someone else will chime in who has experience with the 209's.
