Clipons with Optimal Racing Fairings on 07

I am just starting to notice that everything is slightly different with this Honda :cursin:

I recently installed MotionPro revolver which meant that the stock handlebars are too short!

Looks like the Woodcraft fitment sheet recommends 1.5 risers for the CBR. Did anyone just mount 48mm clipons without risers? I have optimal racing fairings.

You can but you will have clearance issues. I strongly recommend getting the 1.5" risers. Also, the anodizing on WC bars is garbage like their anodizing on all their other stuff... It turns purple and fades to orange eventually.

Get the woodcraft clipons with risers and the vortex bars. That way they stay pretty.

I had Vortex clip-ons w/o risers on my street/track bike and dealt w/ it for a couple years. I had a few tank slappers over that time period, but none so bad that the handlebars came close enough to the fairing stay to become dangerous. However, it was still a pain to deal w/ on the streets and sometimes in the pits. This past December, though, I bought CTM_Patron's track bike that had Woodcraft CFM clip-ons w/ the 1.5" risers that you speak of, but I didn't care much for them. So, I put them on the now street-only bike to take care of those clearance issues. I then ordered another set of Woodcraft CFM clip-ons for the track-only bike, but w/ the 1" risers and haven't had any problems since.

Get the 1.5" riser. If you don't want that, then I'd recommend getting the yoyodyne fairing stay so you don't have clearance issues with the OEM fairing stay. However, not sure if the fairings would still be in the way with the non-1.5" riser. I didn't think to check the clearance since I've recently installed the yoyodyne. I don't have my bike w/ me so I can't post any pics.

Regarding the Optimal Race fairings, I would highly recommend them for both the price and the fitment. They're not Sharkskinz, but I would say 2nd best for being less than 1/2 the price. I've crashed them twice so far now, and they hold up pretty well. Every crash is different, however I repaired them with a Fiberglass Repair Kit and Bondo to fill the holes, and then resanded it, and it worked great.

Only thing I would recommend is putting your bike on both a front and rear stand to install it. The worst part to match up is the tank to mid-fairing. It's as if the D-Zus aren't long enough. Out of the two on each side, the one on the back towards the rear tire could be constructed slightly different in order fit the D-Zus better. I just put some safety wire on one side, the other doesn't give me an issue. I'll post up pics when I get my bike so you can see what I'm talking about.

For price and fitment, I'd give the Optimal's a 9/10. No need to spend extra dough on anything more expensive. Sharkskinz & Armour Bodies are supposedly better, but why waste the money and stay away from Hot Bodies.

Check out Diego from CycleSector (vendor here), he carries them.
