Anyone make a recommendation on flushmounts?

I'd prefer incadescent over l.e.d.s.

Would also like some I can wire up properly (running lights) without them melting (motoboss shortstalks will).

Also.. the motoboss flushmounts dont mount flush. The combination of wrapping around the fairing and the way the 04 is shaped doesnt work too well.

OK.. so i just found the LOCKHART PHILLIPS FLUSH MOUNTS. Question... anyone install them tell me if you had to modify the fairing at all to get them to mount flush?
i just did my custom install a few weeks ago, turned out pretty nice. i read advice through the forums for hours and finally got the nerve to do it on my own. do the same, they give you great advice.

you just have to shave off the excess fairing from the outside and inside in order to make it flush. i just had to make sure i didn't shave off too much cause the LP ones i bought were fairly small. (football lookin' like ones)

i used a dremel tool. worked great. pretty straight forward.

The LP flushmounts used were work fine, just have to drill bigger holes for the mounts to fit :banghead: dremel works wonders. Having seen other mods done I would go with something that wouldnt require any drilling.

The bottom of all these flushmounts that I am finding are FLAT and the fairing is CURVED.. even with grinding down the potrusion, it still has to be a flat object mounted on a curved one.

Am I on crack?

boogie, you are correct, the lp mounts are flat, and the fairing is curved slightly. however, when you put it on, and screw the back on it, it become "more" flush than you might think. the foam pad(behind mount) helps a bit too. it worked for me....

aight, so i'm cutting the fairing now, chotusiam, give me a little help just in case.

ok, so i don't have pics, but i'm sure you'll know what i'm talking about. i just cut my fairings, and i made the hole just big enough to fit the big 'ol back part of the flushies, but i didn't cut off the front part of the signal mount, though, and the front end hangs off a little. should i just cut the bump off and make it completely against the plastic? what did you do? or anyone, for that matter, that did something like this.

thanks in advance!

hey 600rr...

Let me try and verbally explain this...

you must shave the back portion as well as the front in order for the lp flushmount to be "flush". to answer your question, i did shave off that "bump" (if we are talking about the same one.) the best advice i can give is to go slow, and shave a little at a time. it seemed to me that everytime i shaved a little off, it looked more and more flush. on mine, there is no space at all between the mount and the fairing. it's completely flush and tight. in order to acheive that you have make sure not only the front is shaven, but also the back. it took me about 30 an hour just to make it perfect, but the end result was good.

if you have any questions..feel free to ask. pm me.

blazin,

yeah, i had to. i actually also shaved the back of the lp flushies about 1/3 an inch so i didn't have to. but once it was on, i thought it would be a better fit if i just cut a hole in the air dam so there wouldn't be any outward pressure. hope this helps..
