Another thing that might help you (since I'm a semi newb and just grasped this concept a few months ago), try running a gear higher than you usually do. The bike will be way less jerky and you can run hard and experiment without the unsettling jerkiness with the lower 2 gears. After I did this I already knew what the bike was going to do and when so I could predict it in the lower gears and POOF I wasn't a sloppy sally anymore. Just practice and find things that work for you, and keep up with your bike maintenence ofcourse.

no slop in my throttle either, makes a WORLD if difference .... why would you want any play ... i want any twist to equal response out the engine
You need some play because the throttle cable gets tighter as you turn the handle bars to the right, so if there was no play the throttle would be on if the handle bars were at full right lock. Although I've been wrong before....once.

guess i could mention my reasoning behind why i think its the 3deg thing. i've only ever noticed it in 1st and 2nd gear. i've never felt the jerkyness in any other gear.

Run your rpm's higher and it will help smooth out the throttle response. If your under 5k then it can get pretty jumpy.

I just got my '05 600RR and I experienced the abrupt throttle response especially in the very low rpm range when first goin on the gas or letting off. I'm not sure if its just like this for now since its not broken in yet, still has less than 200 km (yes I live in Canada).

The manual will say to leave a certain amount of slack in the throttle. This insures that the throttle will be closed 100% and turning the handle bars through their full rotation will not bind the cable and open the throttle. You need to do this check.

However, I like my controls to give me instantaneous response and adjusting all the slack out of the cable will give you the results that you are looking for.

The PCIII helped alot with the jerk, its alot smother now but i can still notice it enough to unsettle me (push me out wide) in a turn and some times looks stupid to others, maybe a new chain or chain adjustment and a custom map might iron out the jerk abit.... some times i ride the back brake a bit and it stops the jerk..

All RR's can be Jerky, its to do with the fuelling.

Read this the other day about the RR's throttle.
When Honda was sorting out the fuelling they had to deal with those nasty emission regulations. So the throttle when shut goes off completely, where as on older models they used to add a small burst of fuel on closing the throttle to smooth change.

So delicate wrists are in order.

a pc solved that problem on mine.though still a bit jerky when rolling off at really low rpm but super smooth at over 7k.
