I hate steering dampers... makes me lose feeling of the front end... traction control is what I need as I am always too scared to go on the throttle too quickly! :p

I'm looking for someone that makes an after market one as well.. I had her out on the track the other day.. Got into a really bad tankslapper..went lock to lock 6 or 7 times.. I had a piston style on my old '03... the most that thing would ever do is lock to one side and stiffen up right away..I miss that feeling..so I'm with you guys on ditching the stock one...

I love the stock dampner. Honda made the bike even shorter this year, without one I don't think it would be very stable. I personally don't mind adding a little extra input. The bike feels solid as a rock and I have no problem flipping it around.

i get A LOT of headshake during hard breaking, the damper does its job for street riding just fine. but during aggressive breaking it leaves a lot to be desired compared to the scotts damper i had on my 636. If anyone finds a mod to make the damper adjustable or an aftermarket damper send me a pm!

If you are getting head shake on this bike under hard braking, I'd look elsewhere. Something else is wrong. I've braked real hard plenty and have not experienced anything but smooth and predictible stoppage. Had em locked a couple of times here and there too. Maybe your front tire is cupped or something.

I know of a handful of people that race 1000RR
Its about 50/50 those that ditch it for a hydraulic one.

It really comes down to style. seriously, if you yank that bike around hard all day, it will shake. I know one guy that says he gets headhsakes all the time out of his 1000RR whne he rides hard, but hes also racing this year. Then i know of another thats raced 2 seasons now on his 1000RR and hasnt touched the HESD.

As a side note, the HRC ECU for the 1000RR has different "maps" for the HESD, im sure the 600RR HRC ECU for the 07 will have the same.

If your getting headshake under braking, then thats your suspension or brakes that are fuctup, not th damper.
the way a headshake/tankslapper works you shouldnt be experiencing it under braking AT ALL.

I've never even noticed the thing. And I don't really pussyfoot around.

that wasnt for u, its for the ones convinced it only works above 60.

here's a test, ride at 30mph and rock the handlebars back and forth to creat your own tankslapper, see what happens.

Do you see on that graph, where NOTHING is going on for a bit? I dont know what exact speed that it actually starts "working" but I can tell you it does not a whole damn lot till you really get going.
oh, and that little part, you determined to be 60 moh right.
the fukin graph has no scale, that sh1t could be 5mph for all you know.

Any bike, traveling at 30mph and getting a good bump on the front will flatten out, if that's what you're talking about the steering damper kicking in.

It's physics.

You can do it to a Honda gold wing at 30mph and punch the clipon/bar on one side and watch the head shake a little and continue going straight. That effect has nothing to do with the steering damper.

i think i have just become more stupid by reading some of your retarted responses about how you don't like sterring dampeners...
