Hey guys,

I currently have an scorpion exo 400 helemt size large. I like the helmet and it seems to fit me pretty well. (if anything its a tiny bit snug on my cheeks and forehead)

I want to get a helmet that has the Snell M2010 standard since I think its a more realistic testing procedure compared to the Snell M2005 standard that my current helmet has. I've been looking at the Bell Vortex Helmet that STG has on closeout, and according to the sizing chart that is posted on stg's site, i'm right between a Large and X-Large..

Has anyone had an exo-400 and a bell vortex that can offer me some insight on sizing comparisons and what kind of head shape the bell helmets are made for?

helmet that I have:

Helmet that I'm looking at:

any advice or help is useful

thanks

i have a bell star, its pretty neutral, and tends towards the narrow side instead of the round side of things.. slightly.

if you are between sizes, you do what you always do with helmets, order a size down. the star comes in three shell sizes, dunno what they do for the vortex, possibly only two but either way thatd work out fine for a large. look at the size chart on bells website for the most up to date information. from time to time, it may change slightly. probly not, but still best to always go to the source, ya know?

for the price, you really cant beat it. if you need an alternative, take a look at shark.

thanks for the advice, unfortunately stg doesn't have any left in large lol.

here is what i just found on bell's site (same info stg has on their site):
LG: 59-60cm • 23 1/4"- 23 5/8"
XL: 61-62cm • 24"- 24 3/8"

my room mate measured my head and it was exactly 24inchs lol, or 60.96cm... so i guess based on that the large is probably the size i would need...fml haha

i'm gonna call Jason at stg tomorrow and see if i can get some insight from him

hm. *IF* your head is more of the long oval type, you could get away with a large. i think that the padding on bell helmets breaks in nicely. not too much, just in a comprehensive sort of way. if its bit toward the round side of the scale, then definitely an XL so that you dont have any hotspots develop and you can always order a different set of cheekpads at a later time.

Ive tried on a exo-400 and I would go with a medium. I own a Bell Star in a small (a bit too snug but better than loose right?). A couple months ago I bought a matte black vortex in a medium thinking it would be perfect...It actually fits kinda loose. Its gotta be the different shaping of these helmets. You won't know until you actually try them on.
