Hello I have an 06 and the bikes fuel pump just won’t prime. As well as the dash will not light up. There is nothing turning on. The headlights also are not turning on. I have had the bike for only a few weeks and haven’t taken it out much due to it being cold and raining. when this problem first occurred the dash would still light up and the headlights were working just the fuel pump wouldn’t prime. Now a day or 2 later nothing…not even the dash or headlights. ( I was not doing any work to the bike prior to this)
I have already tested the battery and even bought a new one since the one that was in there was already old. Still nothing. I have already tested all the fuses on the bike for continuity and they all check out. I have tested the ignition connection that connects to the engine stop/start switch and that also checks out for continuity. I have separately tested the fuel pump by hooking it up directly to a battery and sure enough that also works.
When I tested the connection from the wiring harness to the fuel pump I did not get any spike of voltage when I clicked the engine stop/start nothing. I continued to test all of my relays, engine/Fan/Fuel and there was no power coming from the 2 wires in the Engine relay (i believe the thicker red wire and the black one right behind it) there was no power there. I continued to test the wire coming from the ignition which has the “troublesome pink wire” connected to it (the connection I’m pointing at in the and there was no power coming from that connection either. (Keep in mind there was power coming from the other relays, fan, fuel)
I bought the bike off market place, there looks to be a jumper attachment at the fuel relay, there is also a brown wire that is totally loose from the fuel relay. This bike looks rigged up to barely run. After some research I’ve heard that if the xenon iodide is shot then that could be the reason that nothing is turning on and the ECU isn’t getting the correct 9v reading it needs to tell the bike to power itself. is it worth to go down this route and directly attach the pink wire to a 9v battery to test this theory.
Does any body have any ideas as to what my issue might be.
No power to cluster (not even clock)
No power to fuel pump
No headlights
