Well... this is definately something that never happened to me before...

I haven't riden my bike for a month and a half... Last time I did a fellow rider (one of the guys that always hit the roads with me) felt of his bike in front of me... lost his front wheel... Didn't see him falling but did see the consecuences...

He was taken to the hospital by helicopter and he is recovering, thanks god (and Madrid's public health system!)... Three ribs broken, spleen compromised, two vertebrae fissure...

I'm gonna get the bike this weekend to see how it feels again... It was the first time for me (in 5 years riding) that I see an accident and I'm still trying to get mi s+it toghether... I only hope it's just that... A passing phase...

Be carefull out there... please!

(and this day I reafirmed myself not to ever hit the twisties alone, if me and my pals wouldn't have been there when my friend felt... he could be dead by now)

Sorry to hear about your friend's troubles, good to know that he will make it through. Unfortunately, it's part of the risk we all assume when we take to two wheels. The risk is always there, some people lose limbs on their very first falls, while others fall and fall and fall only to jump back on because all they got was road rash.

Hitting the twisties with friends is always a good idea, as long as you all respect your abilities and agree to the same rules on your rides.

Probably just a passing phase my friend.

Smart man you are. Ill still ride alone but if I know i'm going for a canyon run and anticipate any type of aggressive riding, I send pins of my starting and ending locations to loved ones with a message to call out the hounds if I dont return by dusk.

Also sorry to hear about the rider, I've had two friends who passed away back when I was in high school but you come to accept death for what it is and move forward. That's where my screen name comes from actually. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. For dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. When its your time to go, you'll go...but dont fear death and dont let that fear inhibit your life or the things you do with your life.
