I know that the RC51 is suppose be a better track bike (that's what people tell me). If you take a RC51 and a 600rr (give it to the same pro rider) both bike being completely stock will the RC51 be that much quicker?

nope. Not a chance at completely stock. The RC is a pig! Even modded, the type of track will play a role in what bike is better.

I believe Jetblast lapped faster on a stock 600rr that a hooked up RC.

All depends on track / rider I think.. We race on a track originally deisgned for karts, I get through it faster on my 600rr than I did on my RC..

I had them both at the same time and I was always about 0.5second a lap faster on the RC. Pusing 125hp vs 108hp on some tracks will make the difference. Speaking of pigs, or 600RR is a fat pig also! Even more so when you compare the 600RR to the other 6's out there. Compare the RC to the other liter twins and you'll find it weighs right about what they all weigh. When you do the typical mods of pipes, power commander, & brake lines to drop a little weight and squeek out a bit of HP on both they aren't as far apart in weight as you might think. 450lbs RC vs 420lbs on the 600RR. So that extra 15-20hp the RC has over the 600RR should make it a tad bit faster on the track in a competent riders hands.

don't you agree that a 600 is easier to go fast on for the average track day or amateur racer though?

The RC likes fast flowing tracks. on such a track the RC would have a HP advantage, but on a tighter track the RC is disadvantaged. It has slow steering compared to the 600rr and really needs a rear ride height increase.

It's rider and set up that make a difference. My RC is probably the most comfortable bike I have ridden/raced on the track. I don't own a 600, but have ridden Jetblast's and a few others. Yes a 600 is easier to through around on the track, but personally the RC gives me great feed back and is very predictalbe. I also have a 750GSXR, which puts out about 10-15 more hp than my RC and is about 30lbs lighter, so yes I turn faster times on it, but I still feel more confident riding the RC. I have spent a lot of track time dialing in my RC, infact I'll be setting it back up at Jennings in March due to a new set of forks I'm putting on done by Thermosman. A properly set up bike will make a huge difference on lap times! Your comfort level will also either help or harm your times.

If you don't know a bikes limits, you won't ever know how fast it will get ya around the track. If you don't know your limits riding on the track, well, it doesn't matter what bike your riding. ;-)

Never owned an RC, but i had a pretty well modded TLR and a 600 is a lot easier to ride fast than a big bike to me......i do miss the sound and the power of a big V-twin though.

Out of the box, maybe, but with just the basic suspension & exhaust mods that most track day riders do they are very comparable. Especially if you start tweaking the geometry with ride height on the RC. All bikes will improve with a little geometry tweaking from ride height, however, the RC improves dramatically with a 5mm drop in the front an a 7-8mm raise in the rear on Dunlops. After making geometry changes to both the 600RR and the RC, it was a toss up which was easier to ride.

If we were talking about an R6 or new GSXR600 that both weigh about 40-50lbs less than our 600RR, then I'd be on board with you all, but we are not. The 600RR is one heavy current 600. Its advantages are that its roghly 30 lbs lighter than the RC with a lighter crank...the RC's advantages is a low center of gravity and a 25hp stronger motor with gobs of torue everywhere. So I'll stick by my answer that the RC is just a tad bit faster and easier to ride than the 600RR.

Don't get me wrong though...I always laugh on the RC51 forums about how people spout that theRC kills GSXR750's and other 600's on the track with ease. ROFL, a competent 600 rider and a so so 750 rider should be able to give an RC fits at the track. The RC is a great and fun track bike, but it by no means is the baddest thing out there.

The original post was asking about giving both the 600RR and RC51 bike to the same PRO rider and which would be faster....I think consistently the RC would be SLIGHTLY faster.
