i have to replace broken pegs. i was thinking about replacing the enitre rearsets though with aftermarket ones. i was looking at the vortex ones because i would like to spend around 350$.

but do the vortex ones connect to the brake light?

and about about the kickstand?

and are the vortex ones the best for the money?

spent 200 more and you can get the best rear set out there (gillies) www.hardracing.com. or contact site vender for a better discount

ive read up that vortex dont make quality parts and one fourm member was very pissed about his vortax rear set. so spend wisely.

if not gillies the Sato is the next best thing. so you should also look into it.

BTW most experience riders dont use the rear break that much since it contribute less then 20% of total breaking force. so even if your break light is not connected it will be ok

I've had Vortex on my bike since 04 and no problems(and it has been laid down with no damage to the rearsets).
You can buy the rear brake light switch seperate, I don't have the switch on mine.

I got the Sato and they kick arse - brake light switch comes with it. As far as not using your rear brake - hogwash. Someone says it only provides 20% of your stopping power (maybe up to 30%). Well, let's think about that for a moment - if you gotta get on it you're gonna want that "extra" 20% or the rear bumper of that car or whatever you hit can go ahead and give you 100% stopping power! Feathering the rear brake helps with cornering too. I'm sure you know all this though!!

actually track schools only start getting into using the rear brake in the advanced levels.

i have been to a few this year and stay off the rear brake is the word of the day. reason is, new people tend to hit the rear brake harder than they should. next thing you know, you are high siding. true gentle pressure on the rear brake can tighten up a line but most people when they realize that they are overcooking a corner will overbrake and crash. i put on a rear brake rotor that is so light that i can stomp on the rear brake lever and it will just barely hold just in case

Had Gilles on my '03 and they were well worth the money. I haven't had any experience with vortex or sato but the adjustability of the gilles were amazing for my height/build/riding style. As soon as I can save up some money I will look into them for the new '07.

I think the rear brake light switch is key purely for safety reasons. Almost every time I stop at a light I put the rear brake on and sit up. I want the cars behind me to see my rear brake light while I'm stopped at a light.

Yes, $320 shipped from Superbikesupply for Vortex. IMO this is the best rearset value out there. The 07 model isn't out yet, although Vortex is saying they will be soon. The previous model will fit, although the 07 is supposed to fit better.

Are you sure about that the Vortex Rearsets for the 07 are NOT out ?
Hmm I may be wrong, But I think supperbikesupply.com has them for the 07

When I bought mine a month or two ago, vortex did not make them. The place I got them from mistakenly sent me a set of 06 rearsets (in their defense the Vortex catalog says same ones fit 07, they DONT). So if you are going to try to go with Vortex, give them a call and see if they make them yet. I was very unsatisfied with the fit on my 07 with the 06 sets. But they did get me thru a trackday when I had no alternative.
