Brody, a wise woman once told me that, "When you know a thing, to hold that you know it or some ****; and when you do not know a thing, to allow that you do not know it"

You should really live by those words :)

03 seat height: 32.3 inches
09 seat height: 32.2

Brady U MAD?, you said: "Also, the newer cbr's have a lower seat height. I think the difference between an 03 and an 09 is a few inches."

You presented him false information and I was just correcting you. I don't want the OP to think he has the highest seating CBR, and then go run out and lower his bike for no reason. Do you?
About the seat height, i stand corrected. When i was at the dealer he told me the seat height of an 03 was like 35 something. And 09 was 32 something.

I think the lesson learned here is stealerships know nothing, and i should always look into the info more, even if the source.is.the honda dealership. (which is weird because i watched him look it up in the books)

But OP, your suspension is something that is used to keep your tires on the ground (there is more to it), not your feet

Just to clear things up, i never suggested lowering your bike. It will change the geometery, not something a new person really needs to be getting into.

Not necessarily. I have an 03, and the spring rate may differ for an 06. I also have 7 available positions for the rear, bit you say you have 10.

I also ride in probably a good 20lbs of gear.

To adjust the front preload, you just turn the knob that is sticking up from the fork tube. For mine it is something like a 12mm wrench. (but not the tiny knob on top of that with the slit for a flat head screw driver, that is rebound).

Right makes is more stiff, left softer.

Ine thing you may want to do before tinkering too much with suspension is read up on it more.

"Race Tech's Motorcycle Suspension Bible" - this goes into great detail about suspension for all types of motorcycles.

"Sportbike Suspension Tuning" - This also gives good detail, and is a bit more simplistic. Also obviously.focuses on sport bikes.

Another book that really helps riders understand how their bike works and how to work with your bike is Keith Code's Twist of the Wrist. This book as some really good information in it. Even talks aboit suspension. But, not so much setting it up.

Nice contribution. Next time just keep the stupid smart ass remarks to yourself...
I really have not contribution to this topic about the seat height because i just don't know what to do about it. I am 6'1" and i squat...but amen to you sir for this. Some times, i just wanna :banghead: due to the stupidity of people for no reason. Are we not allowed to ask HONEST questions anymore....man...now i bid you adue

damnn it@!!! i just lowered the preload to 2 and it's still freaking stiff and high.. from reading other forum, a guy mentioned if i lowered the preload the bike will be lowered at some point..

did i made the right decision??

i had a chance to buy an 07, a little bended front lip wheel, body kit could use a new one, need small things.. for 3500 w shoei helmet.. the thing was the bike was invole in an accident, clear title though.. test rode it and was able to feel comfortable tip toeing.

or this 06, no need to fix anything. higher millage, but im stuck with the high seat.. unless im lowering it..

im soo frusstrated.. need some comforting words..AHHHHHHHHHH

You're 5'6"...don't know what your inseam is, but you could shave the seat. That will give you about an inch more decrease in height (in that exact spot) for you to at least tip toe. One of the easiest things to do that will not cost you much. All it takes is a pair of pliers to remove the staples from the seat, pull back the leather, take a hack saw or some other cutting instrument and shave away. When done (after a lot of cleaning), use spray adhesive to get the leather to adhere to the "new" shaved area, restaple the leather back on, and you've now got a slightly lower bike w/o messing w/ anything major.
