Next month a few buddies of mine from my unit and i are planning on making a trip up to the dragons tail. Before we go, i'm wanting to get a full suit. I hate to say it, but i'm on a very tight budget(this thing is 500 bucks, so its right up my ally). I went to cyclegear a few weeks back and tried on one of the Sedici suits . Felt pretty good, but i know nothing about the quality of the suit, or the brand. I won't be doing any racing any time soon, since there's no tracks near me that i know of. Getting it purely so that if i do eat it at the dragons tail, i'll be a bit more protected than i would be if i were just in my jacket & riding jeans.

I've seen reviews & what not on so many other brands, but this is the first time i've seen Sedici.. Any insight would be great. Or, am i gonna have to be the test dummy(i don't mind)

Sorry if there was some info about it on this site somewhere & i just didn't find it. I searched for Sedici, got back 5 pages, of which told me nothing(3 were ads).

Sedici Leathers

Just bought a 2 piece Sedici Monza suit from CG last week and wanted to give an initial review if anyone is interested. My Pilot leathers had to go back to L.A. to be re-sewn after this last exit from my bike. First off no matter what brand we pick the stitching will go out upon making contact with the tarmac, how much is the determining factor. So these Sedici's were picked up for 400$ as something to use while my Pilot's are back at the factory. The pants are awesome and fit great, padding and pucks seem to be in all the right spots and very similair to my Pilot's. Highly recomend the pants. The jacket I have to say came with the weakest CE armour ever placed in a jacket, thats where they cut cost. No big deal as I swapped CE in from a Joe Rocket jacket I had laying around, backpad, shoulder and elbows. The fit of the jacket is great and now it has perfect armour to make it feel way more solid. I cant say how the stitching will hold up, I would have to lay the bike down again and I like the people in this forum but not that much. So for 400$ and some extra armour I have what I feel to be a good suit, I'll post a nother review after a few months.

I bought some Sedici track pants at CG about 2 months ago when I was in WA state still. They fit great and like jackalopehunter the pucks feel to be in the right place (just above the outside of my calf while standing). Havent put a knee down in them yet but they feel real good and the butt of them lets me slide on the seat nicely to shift my weight. Also like Jackalope said, stitching is coming apart when we exit, just how much does it take. I have a Frank Thomas jacket and it zips into my pants and fits great. I feel pretty secure and safe, just need a good spine protector now. I really think the stuff CG sells, (Frank Thomas, Bilt, Sedici) are all good quality stuff, or else they wouldnt sell it and push it over A* and the other brands they carry

random question but isnt this new sedici stuff just another CG brand... possibly to replace frank thomas brand stuff?

Sedici is a factory direct brand made for CG, just like Frank Thomas was. I own all different levels of gear, my expensive stuff is my custom Pilot full leather suit. As good as its made it still came apart, the CE armour and back pad are what I feel took the brunt of the force. I landed elbow first and went into a turtle slide on my back. thats why I swapped out the armour and back pad into the Sedici gear. I think the stuff will hold up as well as my Pilot gear at way less than half the cost. Yeah you get what you pay for, but your also paying for a ton of advertising, marketing, sales force, promotions, sponsorships, and so on.

OP, just compare an AStar suit with a Sedici suit. Look/feel the leg armor. That's all I'm gonna say.

As mentioned, Cycle Gear has pulled some magic and got some house-brand stuff made for very cheap. So very cheap.

Honestly, Any kind of full suit is going to be 100 times better than jeans, so if nothing else, yeah, Sedici. BUT, if you can cough up a little more, I think you can reach into a better bracket.

The best deal is going to be used stuff. Tons of riders by nice suits and only use them a handful of times before selling them. While you should know how stuff fits beforehand, which isn't always doable, check out the classifieds here and CL for used stuff. That's the real sweet spot.
