Your goign to get more hp at sea level. More o2 in the air which is better for power. Just like nitrious. It has more o2 then air does, that and it's cold which makes more hp. It's not an explosive gas but the o2 allows a bigger flame explosion which makes more power.

what ever happen to 124 hp???
you have to figure all these new BS claims by the manufacturers are with ram air and probably at low temps. remember how the new r1 was supposed to have 180hp? try 151 at the wheels, less than the cbr1000rr :lol2:
hey can you link me to where the R1 tested at 150?? :lol2:

Just a side note, I read the same website that this dyno was taken from and I am curious how they dyno. A local dyno just ran a Daytona 600 with just a slip on at 102.1 (SAE). Pretty impressive for coming from someone other than the big four.

Also, manufacturer claims are made at the crank (sometimes w/ ram air BS). This can be as high as 20% off from at the wheel.

You do you know that they mean 180HP at the crank, right? That'd equate to about 151 rwhp. Others have dynoed the R1 at 160 rwhp.

The 103 rwhp sounds just about right for 124 CRANK HP.

btw, with the more RPMs, the GSX-R600 can use gearing to their advantage.

Those inflated HP numbers are manufactures' claimed horsepower and at the crank, not the rear wheel. The dynos are definately run stock and on new bikes. The numbers go up as the engines break in and everything sets. There is plenty of power for anyone and with a full exhaust and a custom map you can smooth the power curve, add a few ponies up top and greatly improve the mid-range. Bottom line, you shouldn't be wanting for power with any of the bikes.

yeah, i know the difference. a 12% loss of the original crank hp# to get 151 at the wheels would make that bike about 172 at the crank. i just think it is extremely shady of the manufacturers to make these huge crank claims and then add in some ram air numbers to inflate them even more.

hell, i don't even use all 102rwhp that my bike has and i know damn sure none of those guys on the new liter bikes will. otherwise they would be getting paid to ride it.

i was just poking fun at the suzuki for making the least power. it is such a small amount in the difference of all the bikes i doubt it would even be noticeable.

and of course i am still trying to figure what is up with that 107rwhp stock 600rr :?

That's not bad at all. I doubt anyone has an RR putting 107 at the rear in stock trim. I'm sure the magazine test involved only stock bikes, but those stock bikes were "hand picked from the entire line-up". So the power's about the same...now let's see if the Gixxer has an advantage with all it's other first-in class goodies.

HP debates over 600 are rather silly. These are not huge horsepower bikes. A three to four pony difference isn't much, and can easily be made up by suspension, brakes, rider, etc.

600s are about finesse and handling, not megahp like the liter bikes.

If you've ever ridden a GSX-R600 at the track, you know how awesome it is. I'm sure the new one will be an amazing bike (in the same ballpark as the competition at least).
